Since it is free to park at the boardwalk is it possible to arrive there in the morning and take a resort bus to the parks and then return later for your car? do anyone have any experience with this?

No, there is a sign saying parking is not available for theme parks. Parking there is for using the boardwalk facilities. The guard will ask you why you are there.

My understanding is that you can receive a 3 hour parking pass if you have a reservation to dine, that should leave you time to eat and enjoy some of the entertainment but is not set up to support theme park parking.

The guard at the entrance gate will ask you why you are there. He always has a list of people checking in and at times they have had restaurant reservation lists also so not sure you would be able to park especially since each car is given a parking pass with dates of stay on them.

What about if you want to eat at resturant and then going over to the Piano place. I wonder with Pleasure Island shutting down, how busy the Boardwalk area is going to get. I know one nite, we are eating at 7:00 and plan on sticking around to midnight or later.

The best bet is to valet park, there is no time limit. Really doesn't help for theme park parking because you have to pay, which kind of defeats the purpose of trying to get away with free parking.

There is an unguarded lot across the street, where they will direct BW visitors during busy times.

There is signage at most resorts stating that parking is not provided for park access...that is what the theme park lots are for. That being said, there have been reports that some have been allowed to park in the resort guest parking areas. You can always park down, across the street, if not a guest, staying at BW. Or, you can easily valet park. Valet parking is probably the best bet.

MCDiser: I think the piano place is part of the Boardwalk, so you should be all right.

The piano place is Jellyrolls. While I love the whole Boardwalk area, I just don't see it taking over from PI. Atlantic Dance Company is never very well attended, and Jellyrolls can hold only so many people. Those are really the only two 'club' type things you'll find. But, we'll have to wait and see what happens down the road.

when i asked i was referring to the lot across the street i believe there might be a BP service center there too, thats where they had us park last year when we went to the ESPN Zone. also with the 3 hour rule we have an illuminations cruise booked for on the 28th and then we were going to go to ESPN Zone for dinner so that will be way over the 3 hours so how would they work that. i didnt weight all the extra costs when i decided it was cheaper to stay off site (granted my mom has a time share and it only cost me 130 for the week for a 2 bedroom condo, but at 12.00 a day to park thats 84 for a week which i think is very high, too bad they didnt offer a parking pass, but i know i am dreaming there)

130 + 84 = 214 divided by 7 is $30 per night for accommodations AND parking. Doesn't seem like much to me, can't stay at a value resort for that price. :goodvibes

im not complaining i am getting a disney vacation very cheap (until you add on the universal part of it) i have annual passes for several of the theme parks in the area around my house and i havent had to pay to park for ages so i think its more of a shell shock regading the price than anything else.

i plan on being at the parks for rope drop so i will be parking at the parks none the less but the budget trip part of me was looking for a way around the parking fee - but disney is smarter than that and i would rather pay the 12.00 a day to park then find out after a day in the parks that my car was towed.

i know i probably offended someone by trying to get out of the parking fee and i apologize but as obvious as it is there is no way around it.

thanks for letting me try and work out some kind of scheme and thanks for bringing me back to reality.

9 days and i will be in the world and for some reason once i get there i no longer worry about money.

have a great night everyone

Try adding what you expect to pay in parking fees to the price of your park tickets and see if you wouldn't come out better upgrading to an annual pass that will come with free parking, you'll only have to do this for only one person in your group, even if just a child's ticket.

There should be no problem parking behind the Hess station in that back lot. That's where you should be parking if not actually staying at BW. So sure, go right ahead and park there. I don't think anyone will have an issue with that.

Yep, it's great to get a 'cheaper' vacation at times. But, you have to weigh all the costs. I know a ton of people book airlines flying into Sanford because of the terrific fares they get. But, they don't usually think about how they will get to their resort from there. It is almost double what you would pay for a towncar from MCO. So....it's always best to weigh your options. Sounds like you're doing just that!!

For now. Since theme park parking is supposed to be in the theme park parking lots, folks shouldn't be surprised if, at some time in the future, people do have an issue with it. That lot is there to serve the BoardWalk; if parking at the BoardWalk becomes an issue, because that lot is full of folks trying to avoid parking fees at the theme park parking lots, then at that point, parking there for the theme parks would be an issue.

And, of course, Disney could make it an issue, at any time, just by posting a sign, and may have a vested interest in doing so because they aim to charge for parking for the theme parks.

True.
We found ourselves directed over there one Friday night when we had dinner at FF. BUt if folks start using it as a theme park parking lot, they will probably wind up doing something.

Technically..it is a CM parking lot. That is where people are directed, by the CM in the guard house, if they wish to park at BW but are not guests. I wouldn't worry about it becoming an issue any time soon. The only reason it would become an issue is if that lot started to get full and there was no room for CMs to park. Don't see that happening anytime soon...it's a hike to the boardwalk area, and then to Epcot and then back again. It's not nearly the same as parking at either the Polynesian or CR for park access. As an owner at BWV, I have an issue with non-BW people using the lot that is across the street from the bus stop...that lot is for BW guests only. But, if people choose to use the lot much further down, and across the main road, in back of the Hess station, then fine, that's okay. Just stay out of the BW guest parking lot. Or, valet park.

I confused the two parking lots.

As a BWV owner keep in mind that during F&W festival parking is usually restricted to BWI and BWV guest only. THis is generally enforced from Friday to Sundays (busiest times for F&W). Last year we were stopped everytime we went to enter the parking lot. The guards (there were always 2, one at the gate and one at the actual parking lot entrance) would check both our parking pass and our room ID before we were allowed to enter. I expressed my pleasure with this procedure several times during that stay. It always burns me to come back to the resort in the evening and can't find a parking space at my resort and that always seems to happen when we have a ton of groceries to carry to our room. We will be there next month, so hopefully the weekend parking restrictions will again be in effect. (We stay at BWV several times a year, but always during F&W for easy access into EPCOT).

Thanks for the reminder...I had completely forgotten about F&W. Not sure how I could do that considering I'll be there next weekend....duh!!
