While we are on the subject. a little OT question. I dont have a car, I am staying onsite. At the Pop. So, I will be using Disneys transportation. I will be at the magic kingdom, on said day. How can I get from there to Ohana's for dinner. Please someone tell me. Do you suggest a bus, or the monorail. I dont even know, if I can take a monorail to get there, :confused3 Anyone, know the quickest way and. How long should I give for transportation time. Thanks, please help

I was thinking he was just joshing with that remark....

We all know that the hot subjects on the boards are parking and not staying at the resort you are parking at and heading into the parks from that resort, refillable mugs and pool hopping...did I leave anything out.. oh yeah, dining plan is taking all the ressies.. ;) :teeth:

faindrops, just walk to the monorail and hop it to the Polynesian...probably the easiest way...

Depending on way you are in the MK... you will have to walk down Main street and out the Main gate and walk up the monorail. It will stop at the Contemporary Resort, then the Poly.....go upstairs at the Poly, O'Hana is on the second floor..

I always allow an hour...better safe than sorry..

I've stayed at the CR several times and it is SO annoying to circle the parking lot trying find a spot and then seeing someone who just parked put their Santa hat on for MVMCP and walk over to MK. Or to have such a hard time finding spots all week only to read threads like this and realize why I couldn't find a spot.

The valet parking doesn't really affect me as a guest of CR but eventually, if everyone does this (as word spreads here on the DIS) because parking at the TTC is a "PITA", it will become a problem. Why don't you pay to stay at the CR if its such a "PITA" to park at the TTC?

There's only so much parking to go around at the CR; their parking lots weren't designed to accommodate MK cars as well as CR guest's cars.

But there isn't much I can do about it except vent here and also to hope that the CR gets strict about the parking rules/policies and that they do infact tow cars that are there for more then 3 hours. Keeping my fingers crossed.
I totally agree with you 100%. Just like yourself my family & I have stayed many times at the Contemporary & sometimes we have had to circle the parking lot for a parking spot. Like I said before there is a sign that you see when you drive into the Contemporary that says "We do not provide parking for the Magic Kingdom." That goes for other WDW Resort guests & off site guests. So Disneyrsh sorry but you broke a rule, by going to the Magic Kingdom. I have no problem if people park their cars there because I do realize a lot of people go to the Contemporary for Calfornia Grill, Chef Mickey's & Concourse Steakhouse. However don't plan on going to the Magic Kingdom after because it's the wrong thing to do. So I do hope that one day they do tow cars that break this rule, because it's the only way these people will learn.

There is a sign when you drive into the Contemporary that says "We do not provide parking for the Magic Kingdom", which is refering to non Contemporary Resort guests. So this has been a problem at the Contemporary & it is unfair to their guests who sometimes can't find a parking spot & it makes guests just parking there to eat look bad because who knows if they plan on going to the Magic Kingdom later on, because there some who follow the rules. So the best thing to do is park at the TTC, because you can leave your car there until the Magic Kingdom closes.

But I visited the CR in 2001 during a special promotion and I was told that I could park there for life for free. Has this changed?

I don't know what their policy is on promotions. All I know is that you are not allowed to park at the Contemporary & then walk on over to the Magic Kingdom. It does not matter if your staying at another Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, or staying off site. it's wrong & the people who do this should have thier cars towed.

Monorail is easy. Just go from the Mk to the Poly. I think you stop at CR and the TTC first. Allow about 1/2 hour.

The other alternative is to take a boat if it's at the dock.

It's only a PITA to park at TTC when we're over at CR PAYING for dinner, and then having to get back into the car, drive over to the TTC, and then take the boat over to MK.

If we're just going to MK, we park at TTC.

I paid over 200 dollars for my meal at CR, I can darn well take my time getting back to the minivan.

THey're never going to tow DVC members pirate:

1st off all if you do park your car at TTC & then decide to go back to your car after your dinner at the Contemporary, the TTC is the very next stop so don't make sound like it's that big of a deal. Also you want to comment about spending over $200.00 for dinner, well I can do you one better. My family & spend about $400.00 per night to stay on the Atrium Club level. So your inconveniencing us because you are ilegally taking up a parking spot that could be used by another Contemporary guest because you decide to go to the Magic Kingdom

Whatever. I gave my opinion just as you did. I'm a DVC member too but when I'm not staying at the CR, I take the bus to MK from BWV and then monorail to CR/GF/Poly for a meal. That's what everyone should do but obviously they don't; the rules/policies, I guess, don't apply to everyone just some.

Disneyrsh I forgot to mention if you park your car at the TTC & still want to go to the Magic Kingdom after a meal at the Contemporary you can because you would not be taking up a guests spot at the Contemporary. Besides once your finished the Magic Kingdom how hard is to take the Express Monorail or boat back to the TTC to get your car?

You do understand the post about a promotion was a joke? Relax.

By the way , the OP asked if this was allowed. There should not be a problem asking the question and they shouldn't be attacked for it. The boards are for asking questions.

They did not say "I know I am not supposed to do this but I am going to do it anyway so flame away".

If you have a DDE card and are dining your valet parking is free :) or you could take a cab from your resort to the CR, it's not that expensive and will save you the hour taking the bus.

I was not attacking the OP. Disneyrsh kept saying how she & her family can park at the Contemporary because she is a DVC member & because they spend over $200.00 on a dinner there. Well she has to realize that it does not matter if she is a DVC member or if she spends over $200.00 for a meal, it's still wrong. I only mentioned my family spending $400.00 per night on our room there because, I don't think the Contemporary would want to upset their guests who spend so much money to stay there. So if they want easy access to park their cars I think that is something they should get.

:rotfl: Just look at your receipt, if it doesn't have the current LOS policy outlined, then you're definitely grandfathered in.

This phrase always opens doors for me, "I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal. People know me. I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany."

Okay, just my futile attempt to lighten the mood :joker: .

Ok, we've got small kids and you seriously want me to take the monorail and WALK ALL THE WAY BACK TO MY CAR in the ttc so I can get whatever I need to get out of the car (change of clothes, stroller, etc), rather than walk downstairs, stop at the car in the parking lot, pick up the stroller ,and walk over to MK? Yeah, not likely.

And if you can afford to stay at Atrium level, then you can afford valet parking, which never fills up.

THe parking at the Contemporary isn't just for guests staying at the hotel, it's also for people eating there, and I have yet to see them run out of room. I'll also say in over 40 trips we've used the MK walkway from the Contemporary twice, both times with a dinner in the evening, so you may call it abusing the system, I call it maximizing my benefits.

If it gets to a point where it's a problem for Disney, you can be sure they'll do something about it. It's also likely that they're opening a DVC at the contemporary, and the minute that happens all DVC'ers get parking privileges there regardless.

Right now it's just a problem for people who tend to get steamed about stuff like mugs and pool hopping...

You still don't get what I am saying. I never said that people who want to eat at the Contemporary should not park in the parking lot. They have every right to. I am also going to tell you that there is a sign at the entrance to the Contemporary that says "We do not provide parking for the Magic Kingdom" which is refering to non Contemporary guests who park their cars there. So the next time you go to the Contemporary I suggest you look for that sign. So your are clearly breaking a rule & I would hope that one day your mini van does get towed away to teach you a lesson. Lastly all that stuff you mentioned you need for your kids. Why not park at the TTC, take the Resort Monorail to the Contemporary so you can eat & bring all those items with you? This way you can go to the Magic Kingdom & take the Monorail back to the TTC.

Kaycee - thank you!!

I was just beginning to wonder where all the pixie dust went???? pixiedust:

To the original poster (or it may have been another poster in this thread), please make sure that if you park at TTC and take a monorail to CR or if you take a bus to the MK and then the monorail to CR; remember to take the RESORT monorail.
