Parking at parks? AAA pass

Ok, I know there are several camps on right/wrong and proper etiquette for certain things at the parks... but what about the special AAA parking passes that let you park up front at the parks? I'm not an AAA member, but have a friend that is, who told me about the passes and said she could get me one for my up coming trip. I'd love to have the pass, but don't know if I'd feel comfortable if it's considered "cheating"? She said it was no big deal, that the passes were even sold on ebay (I looked, they are!) Just not sure how I feel about it.... but would love not to have the long walk back to the car at end of day! ha...

Not sure how it works where you are but here you have to book a trip through AAA to get the pass and when you do your name and trip dates are now listed on the pass. Yes it would be considered cheating since you are not the member and the passes state right on them that they are not transferable. Beside, you would be taking one of the limited spots for AAA members that is actually a member. I also can't understand why anyone would actually buy a pass on Ebay since the people selling them got them for free.

Right, I don't understand the ebay thing either... why would people pay for the pass, when they are not sure it is even a good pass. And the people selling them, if they are AAA members, and just getting the passes to sell them, why don't the passes have their names on them, and why does AAA let this go on?

Well, AAA isn't letting it go on, as much as possible :teeth:

You're right, in the past, passes had no personal information on them and generally expired at the end of the year. Due, most likely, to the number of passes being sold on Ebay (despite them being marked not for sale and not transferable ;)), it appears AAA has revamped the Diamond Parking passes to be customer-specific and to expire at or close to the end of the issuee's own trip.

From what I've been reading and hearing, AAA is closing that loophole. Those who are getting that AAA parking permit, are getting it as part of a booklet, that shows their name and trip dates. And the parking attendents have been checking that against their room keys or such...just to be sure.
This happens all the time.....something is available out there, that many people want to take advantage of. But, many are not truly eligable to use it, so they get it in some other fashion. Soon, the group that is distributing the item, decides to make it much harder to use their permit without getting it through 'legal' channels. This is what would seem to be the case with AAA. That parking pass was supposed to be a perk for those who booked a travel package through AAA..not every Tom, Dick and Harry who wanted one.

Some of the spaces in the AAA lot are way down off to the side, just as far from the tram lane as some of the spaces are in the regular lot.

Some of the spaces in the handicapped lot are way off to the side; better would have been a lot half as deep and with twice the rows (with general parking in the deep half), but that is another program aka OT.

We had the AAA parking pass on our last trip. For the most part we were parked fairly close to the park entrance. It did seem that we were parked off to the side a bit. I only recall having to walk somewhat of a distance at Hollywood Studios. Otherwise we thought the pass was good to have. :)
