We are staying at AoA next week (Feb 15-17). What is the best parking lot at Magic Kingdom? We plan to be at MK on Thursday Feb 16 for rope drop. We want to get to parking lot by 8:15-8:30am. Directions and map to preferred parking lot would be helpful!

Park as close to TTC as you can.
They will be parking guests there in the mornings.
That's about it.

BTW, with the new MK opening of Main St. on regular mornings before 8AM,
I'd want to get there earlier rather than later.
I'd want to be parked by 7:30-7:40AM.

What is TTC?

That's the station at the MK parking lot where you catch a monorail or ferry boat, or bus to GET TO the Magic Kingdom.

(TTC=Ticket and Transportation Center.)

1. Oh, so it's not like Disneyland?
2. Is it faster to drive ourselves to MK or take shuttle from AoA to MK?

1. Well, Disneyland has those giant spiral lots, far removed from the parks.

2. Bus is faster/more direct to MK.
It unloads/loads at MK GATES, not at TTC.
(Resort bus terminals at #5 on the map below.)

It was super easy and fast at Disneyland, so I was hoping it would be more convenient at MK to drive ourselves. I didn't realize that you still have to take monorail or ferry boat. Are monorail or ferry boat fast? Or would there be a long wait?

Yikes! That early for 9am rope drop?!

The monorail is totally unpredictable.
It may or may not be running on the morning(s) you are there.
The ferry is not "fast."

TTC= The Ticket and Transportation Center. It is faster to ride a bus than drive yourself to the Magic Kingdom, i.e the TTC.

Depending on when you arrive there can be a bit of a wait. Either way allow at least 30 minutes to get from the TTC to the gates of the Magic Kingdom.

I added a map of the "MK gates" area to post #7 above.

You are extremely helpful! Thank you! What time should we plan to catch the bus at AoA in order to watch the rope drop at 9am this coming Thursday?

I'd be at your resort bus stop by 8AM-ish.
That'll get you there early and ready.

BTW, the Rope Drop "MK Welcome" show is now performed on the Castle Stage
(no longer at the MK Main St. Train Station.)

Thank you so much!! Btw, is it better to drive ourselves to Disney Spring this coming Wednesday afternoon or take the bus? We have dinner reservations at Bongos at 6pm but I waned to walk around DS a little bit beforehand.

I think that most of us who don't mind driving to parks, prefer to take the bus to MK to avoid the tram ride to TTC, then at TTC waiting for and getting on monorail or ferry.

And since it's not clear from your post since you are asking which parking lot "What is the best parking lot at Magic Kingdom?" .... unless you go in late in the day, you don't get to choose which lot unless you paid for Preferred or have HC tags. You will be directed to which lot, which row and which spot. You could be a long walk to tram.

You are directed at all parks but if you go at rope drop you should be in closer lots but still show which spot.

Driving to DS is a good plan, if you like to drive.
(However, we never do.)

For Bongo's you want to park in the "Orange" garage.
