Parking at Logan

Has anyone ever parked in the Economy Lot at Logan? It is $96 for a week, and would work out cheaper than using Logan Express for the four of us. Did you feel your car was safe? Was it a long wait for the shuttle pick-up? Any info is appreciated!

I thought about it a few times, but never could reconcile that against Central Parking at $154 per week. Sure, that would be more than Logan Express, but you cannot beat the convenience, and I love having my car covered for the duration.

We parked there before. It was a bit tough to find. But, we felt fine leaving our car there. There was a very frequent shuttle that ran to the terminals. I think that if we did it again, dh would drop us at the terminal with the luggage to get checked in. Then he would drive to the lot and take the shuttle back. When we arrived at Logan after our trip, dd and I waited to get the luggage, while dh picked up the car and drove back for us. It worked quite well. But, this might not work as nicely if there are a bunch of kids, and a ton of luggage.
We also wouldn't use the Economy lot if there was any chance of snow..how depressing to come back from vacation and have to shovel off your car!!

The last time we flew out of Logan we had an early flight and decided to stay overnight near the airport. We used Hilton Honors points to stay at the Hampton Inn near the airport. They charged us $75 for the week to park our car there. We used their shuttle to get to and from the airport. They also have a stay and fly rate. There is also a website that has a listing of local hotels that have stay and fly rates. I think it was stayparkfly.com or something like that. Sorry I can't be more specific with that web site. I didn't keep all the information from that trip.

In October we parked at Logan Park'n Go which is just over the bridge in Chelsea. It is very convenient and the cost was $105 for the week (Plus a day, because we got back so late). The shuttle is right there for the outbound trip to the airport, and on the way home we waited about 10 minutes for the shuttle back to the lot.
It is not covered, so if snow was possible I would re think this choice.
I fly a lot for work and I leave my car here frequently. I feel it is very safe, and I have never had a problem.
It was the cheapest way to get from Natick to Logan for the 3 of us, if that helps.

I remembered the web site address. It is www.parksleepfly.com.

If you booked through a travel agent they can book you a stay & fly package at the Hampton Inn. Its $100 for the week and includes one over night, parking, transfers, and a continental breakfast.

Thanks everybody...I knew I could count on MA friends for good info. Those hotel deals sound fantastic! We live only 25 minutes from Logan and will be traveling in August, so we wouldn't need the overnight, but that is great to know. We will weigh the options for airport parking, and look into the Park'n Go. Thanks again! :)

I agree about the overnight.. We live 55 min from Logan (actually, my husband works there and drives everyday..)

So many people ask us why we don't get a hotel in Boston, but we would have to allow :20min to get the shuttle from hotel to airport so it would only save us 1/2 hr in the AM. I'd get a much better nights sleep in my own bed :)

Did you look into a cab or limo service? It might not be too expensive if you live that close. It would save you worry about your car because it would be safe at home.

The two economy lots are uncovered & unfenced. anyone can walk in and out of the lot. There was a small hut with an an attendant but you park at your own risk for the high $96 fee. I have used it but I have an older car that I don't worry about.

Precisely, it's worth the extra $10 per day for safety.

We parked in the economy lot back in January on our trip to WDW and WL. I did feel a bit uneasy parking my BMW in the lot but we had no issues...unless you consider the 10 inches of snow that I had to brush off the car b/4 we left.

Yes, we parked in the Economy Lot at Logan last January and felt perfectly safe doing so. The only problem was we returned late at night after very cold weather and had a lot of trouble getting into our car as the doors were frozen shut!

Where exactly are the Economy Lots? I ask only because, if they're at the airport, no problem - but there was a water main break in Chelsea this morning that flooded, in addition to some streets, one of the airport parking lots. The radio didn't say if it was a Massport lot or a privately operated one, but...

The economy lots are on the airport property as opposed to the off airport parking up in Chelsea and Revere. You have to follow the access road around the old hangers up past the international terminal and go past the fuel tanks. The off airport parking is generally either up route 1 in Revere or over the bridges into Chelsea. With the economy parking lots, you can take the regular MASSPORT shuttle busses to the economy lots and they generally hit the terminals on a more frequent schedule than the off airport parking lots.

Another issue with the off property parking lots is we signed up for one of the cheap parking lots over the bridge in Chelsea and pre-paid for our stay to save even more. We thought we allowed enough time to get to the parking lot and then to the terminal, except...the bridge is a drawbridge....and we hit it just as a oil tanker was coming up the Chelsea creek...up went the bridge...and we waited...and waited...fortunately, I am slightly anal on enough time...so we made it with minutes to spare, but it was close. If you are in a rush...keep Murphy's law in mind....

Have any of you found great airfares from Logan to Mco....been waiting for SWA for late Sept but they are taking forever!

Thanks again everyone for your input and information. Donnaksmj, I just booked air with Jet Blue for $89 each way, Boston to MCO, going in late August. We are traveling Tuesday-Tuesday, because the lowest fares are on that day. If a lower fare comes out, Jet Blue is great about issuing vouchers to make up the difference. So I am still checking their website daily, lol. Good Luck! :)

DH & I always stay at the Logan Hilton and use their Park'N Fly. We get to start our vacation a day early. No hurrying to catch a flight, clean the house all up, make the beds, do the dishes and head to Boston for the evening. Hit SANTARRPIO's in the North End for Pizza before arriving at the Hilton.

The next morning Hilton shuttles over to the Terminal and they are waiting for us when we return for a shuttle back to our car.

If you choose this option, when calling the Hilton make sure you want the Park'N Fly ressies.
