What do you do if Central parking is closed/full? We are flying at 7:00AM and need to know the best option for us. I have 3 little kids and don't want to be taking shuttle buses, etc.

Your options are limited if you don't want to ride the shuttle busses.

The long term parking area is over past the international terminal and it is on the airport shuttle bus route so it's fairly easy. In fact, it can be easier on the kids since the bus drops you off at the terminal, while some of the parking spaces in the central parking are a hike to the terminals.

I used central parking a few months ago while flying USAir and it was almost a 15 minute trek of escalators, elevators, turns to many to mention and I cannot imagine it with 3 small ones.

You may not have any choice. Right now (well, at 12:35 today) ALL longterm parking was full - including valet which I didn't even know Logan offered. This http://massport.com/logan/parki_curre.asp link should at least help you with where to search for information.

What you may want to do, especially if there are two adults and no central parking available, is drop off one adult, the luggage and the kids at the terminal, then follow the message boards to economy/overflow/etc parking and just one person take the shuttle to the terminal; reverse for your return to Logan.

Other options are getting a friend or relative to drive you and pick you up;
Using Logan Express;
Using an airport shuttle service from your home;
Using a town car or limo service from your home;
Rent a car at home, follow the drop off passengers procedure then drop off the car and get a ride to the airport;
Take a taxi.

My family always seems to schedule early flights to MCO from Logan. What we do which we love is we book a room the night before at the Hilton/Logan. We choose the Park'N Fly plan. This allows you to leave your car for up to 10 days (I believe) in the Hilton lot. This way you can take your time THAT day and close up the house, get the luggage all in order and not feel rushed as all you are doing is going to the Hilton. Then the morning of the flight the Hilton shuttles you right to the Terminal in plenty of time to get your flight. EASY & EASY :thumbsup2
When you return, just have your DH take the Hilton shuttle back to retrieve the car and and once he has the car, he can swing around to the terminal and get you and the 3 kids and the luggage.
IMHO, it is almost impossible to travel via air and not have to take a shuttle at some point whether your home base or your destination.

You know it, Momrek! My typical options are either: Drive from home to sibling's house (free parking), taxi to Logan Express (taxi cheaper that way), Logan Express to airport; or, drive to work, subway to downtown Boston, bus or Silver Line to airport.

We use a limo (van)service from our house and it works out best. For $65 one way we get six of us to the airport. We have a 4 and 2 yo.No waiting for busses.

I'm on the 6:30 am or 7:30 am Delta Shuttle very often and have never found central full by 7 am - even during Easter break a few weeks back when the signs warned of the garage being full. Even if you check in the night before, you will still have to arrive by 6 am to clear security (now this can take a half hour on busy mornings if you aren't on the shuttle or have a Delta/United/American status level to avoid the regular queue. In the new garage, Level 4 may be full, but levels 6 and 7 are usually not. To go to the new garage side first, take the immediate right after you pick up your ticket. Go up the carousel and look for open spaces as you pass each floor entrance. The worst I ever have to go up to is level 6. Logan has just opened some sections of the new floors on the old garage on the left side over by terminal C. Many people don't know how to get to these, so spaces are available even when the new garage is full. To get to them, pass over from the new garage to the old on the ramps on the end of the garage nearest terminals C and E. If all else fails and central is full, terminal E has two lots that are definitely not full at the early hour you are traveling and terminal B also is a late filler-up. Look on the Massport site(http://www.massport.com/logan/parki_where.html) and you will see the entrance to these lots. You can get to any other terminal fairly easy from these by entering terminals B or E and taking the skyways to the other terminals. One last option is to take the Logan Express. It is $18 per person roundtrip, but parking is only $11 a day at their lots so on average it is cheaper than Logan for a trip. The run every half hour from 4 am to 11 pm from Braintree, Framingham, or Woburn. More info here: http://www.massport.com/logan/getti_typeo_logan.html
Good luck!!
