Parking ? at GCV

We are going to DL for our first time in August. If we are staying on points do we still have to pay to park at the resort?
I was considering AP for DL thinking it would give us free parking at the 3 resorts there, but if I am understanding it correctly we still have to pay to park. That is a bummer.

I know that when staying at the Grand Cal Villas on points you will receive complimentary "self park." I'm not sure if the same is also offered when using points for the Disney Collection hotels.

If going the AP route, you'd have to purchase one of the highest APs (Signature, Signature Plus) to get the free parking. The Deluxe and lower-range APs do NOT include parking.

From your title it sounds like your staying a VGC on points? Then you will not pay for parking. I kind of think a point stay at the hotels also does not pay for parking but it's been a long time since I read that.

Be aware that everything in DL is so much closer than WDW that you don't need to worry about parking at each hotel and at the parks. We park once in self-parking (no additional charge when staying on points) and we don't move the car again unless we're going offsite.

"Free" is a bit of a stretch There is not a daily charge for parking because you've already paid for it in your membership dues.

As noted by others, if you are staying at VGC on points there is no extra charge to self park. BTW, the parking lot for self park is across the street (Disneyland Dr) from the GCal.. (If you look at a map, it is the area between Paradise Pier and the AMC movie theater. )
Like maburke, we don't move our car unless we are going off site.
