We are leaving in a few weeks for a quick trip to WDW. My kids are wanting to fish at Fort Wilderness. We will have a car. Will I be allowed to park there to fish or will we have to use bus transportation?

You will have to park in the lot at the front of the Fort, and take an internal bus up to Pioneer Hall.

Is there a time limit? I know at other resorts, you can park for only 3 hours. Is this the case with the lot at the front?

:) I would like to know this too in case we drive from AKL to HDDR.

A time limit for parking might be imposed at any resort at any time. There is a chance you won't have a time limit if things are not crowded at that resort.

I've driven to FW a few times and never had a time limit. The only resorts I ever received a time limit were Contemporary & Poly and that wasn't very often.

The lot at FW is fairly large. Since most people staying there park at their sites, most of the parking is for visitors. I have never seen it totally full. You might have to park farther away from the bus stop, but I have never seen a limit to how long you can be there.

That's really the difference between FW and the monorail resorts. That and the fact it's not a convenient way to get to MK. I would be very surprised if you had any problem at FW.

You would take the bus to the Meadows Recreation Area if you needed to rent equipment or wanted to fish in the canals. They don't allow you to fish in the lake, at least in the beach area, not sure about away from the beach area which would be hard to access. If you post a question about fishing at FW on the camping board, you will get a prompt and detailed response; a bunch of the regulars are avid fishermen.

Good point. If you want to fish IN FW, you have to go to the Meadows. If you want to fish in Bay Lake, you have to go to the Settlement. I'm sure fishing at the Meadows is cheaper than BL, and you would have to pay for a boat to take you out on BL.
