Parking at DVC

So, we don’t have a car for our next weekends trip to BCV, but we have friends driving in from Tampa to meet us and go to the park. I know if I had my own car or a rental, I could park at the resort for free. However, can I just list our friend’s car as our car for the purposes of the trip. They won’t be staying with us, and I’d prefer not to buy them as guests. However, the statement is absolutely true: Their car is our car for the day. That is how we are getting around, whether they drive us to other resorts, we stay just at BCV, or we go out for dinner off property. Basically, when they are at the resort with the car, my fiancé and I (both DVC members) will be with them and the car.

I’m not trying to circumvent the system, and I’d rather just pay than try to get too crafty. I’m just thinking that a car I rented for purposes of getting me around WDW would be allowed to park. Why can’t the car that gets me around the property for that day not park at the resort, especially since I’m not listing any other cars? If this is ok (which I’m still not sure if I clear this first hurdle), please let me know what I’d have to do. Otherwise, I’ll just ask them to pay or park elsewhere and use park transportation.

Again, I’m new to all this, so I appreciate your advice.

When you check in, ask for a parking pass for the dash of the car. I would add them onto your reservation without them staying with you. They could then get through security with no issues and also have pool privileges.

Thanks! I think the pass will do the trick. I’m positive they aren’t doing the pool. It’s just Epcot and meals together, so we will be with them the entire day. I really appreciate the advice.

They haven't given out paper parking passes for years. If they are just visiting for the day, you don't need to worry about paying for parking. That's just for overnight. If you drive to the park, you just whip out your magic band and it shows you as a resort guest, so no fee for the theme parks.

so my friends (ie my Disney drivers for the day) don’t need a parking pass to get into BCV and park if they are not staying overnight (which they are not)? I don’t need to do anything at all? Do I need to give front desk their information, since you are indicating there is not a paper pass to put on their dash? Thanks a lot for the help.

Likely you will, as only people with dining reservations or actively staying are allowed to drive in.

I think all the need to do is give your name at the gate that they are visiting you for the day. They will confirm your reservation and should let them through with no issues.

They never charge for day parking so no need to do more.

They need to know, they are checking IDs and confirming the name matches, at least they were in Feb.

Just a heads up, I don't know if some resorts are less strict, but this was our experience at BLT and OKW.

Your friends will probably need to give your name and villa number.

Yes, but they have never stopped you from having guests visit. As long as they give the name and room number of a valid guest, they are allowed it..just like with a dining reservation.

But, if you are saying they turned a day guest away from visiting an actual guest of DVC, then that would indeed be new.
