parking at DL

we are staying off site at one of the further hotels and will be driving to DL everyday, is the parking lot like WDW? Do you park and then catch the tram thing to the gate or do you have to walk to the gate?

How far is it to walk?

Hi, we just got back and drove & parked each day. You go into the M&F Parking Garage (if you arrive really early you may end up in the Pinocchio lot that is outside next to the garage) then you use escalators or elevators (if parked in the garage) to go down to the tram waiting area. From here there is an option to walk which we used 2 times on this trip. The walk is about 10 minutes at a casual pace. Quiet a bit easier than we expected. Good sidewalk & one street crossing at a crosswalk.

To add to what specialks said, one difference at DLR is that the parking is not right there in front of the parks. So it is more like MK where you would park further away as opposed to AK.DHS/Epcot where the parking is right in front.

When DL was the only park the parking lot was right in front. That is where they built DCA, the GCH and DTD. And then they built the largest parking structure in the world (literally true) across the street and around the corner. That is called Mickey & Friends. On really busy days there are other lots further away which I have never used or even seen for that matter.

We walk most of the time and like PP said, it's not that far and there's a nice sidewalk to take you over there. Our main reason for walking is that we usually have a stroller with us and, for us, it's much easier to just walk over than to fold the stroller up for the tram. Not sure if you'll have a stroller with you but thought I would mention it in case it applies.
