We are staying at another resort but have a dinner reservation at The Wave. Can we leave our car there after dinner and go to MK?

I think CR is the one resort where they won't let you park even if you dinner reservation unless staying there, someone else who has stayed recently will need to confirm

You're only supposed to park at a WDW resort to eat, shop, or stay at that particular resort. You're not supposed to enter a park. Please be mindful of those who are staying at the Contemporary and might not be able to park due to non-guests parking there.

A better option would be to take a bus, boat or monorail from your resort to MK, walk over to the Contemporary for dinner, and then walk back to MK after dinner. When leaving MK at the end of the night, just get on whatever transportation is available to go back to your resort.

Or you could take a cab.

Unless there is a special event or holiday, they will allow you to park there if you have a reservation. They sometimes give 3 hour passes.

I stay at the contemporary last week and had friends staying at the pop come
over for breakfast at chef mickeys , we went to the magic kingdom afterwards
they left their car at the contemporary.
they have a large parking lot always plenty of spaces if the guard at the gate dosen't say anything about a time limit you should be ok.

We had breakfast at Chef Mickey's back in 2010. Stopped at the gate and told guard about breakfast and after can we take the monorail to MK. He said we could but had to park in a sort of satellite parking area at CR. It was a pretty long walk from the lot to CR so it was inconvenient in that sense but convenient that we could take the monorail after breakfast. Rental car was still there that night. I don't know if this rule still holds true.

Contemporary parking is for guests *paying* to stay at that resort and for those with dining reservations. When your dinner is over, it would be expected and polite to give up the parking to a resort guest.

As others have posted, you are not supposed to leave your car at a resort you're not staying at and head off to a park. Do people do it? Yes. Do they get away with it? Yes. That does not mean it's ok to do. As grimley1968 suggested, you should use Disney transportation from your resort to MK and then walk to CR for your dinner and then walk back to MK afterwards, or take a cab.

1. You are only allowed to park at the CR if your a guest or have a dining reservation. You are usually given a 3 hour time limit to eat and shop.

2. Will you get caught if you park and go to the MK..........not likely.

3. It is rude to park there and deny a guest a parking space. How you like it if you were a guest and had to drive around looking for a space?

4. There have been reports and I can confirm, they are starting to tow cars from the CR. I doubt its all the time, but more likely when the resort is busy, at holiday times and when a convention is in.

5. As BobNC said, you can valet park.

We do it all the time and have never had a problem.

Not for you but definitely for the person staying at the resort who drove round and round looking for a spot and didn't find one because you do this. And that does happen frequently. The person staying at the resort only has that parking lot as their option, people visiting for dinner have others. It's called courtesy. If you expect it at your home resort so you can find a parking spot then give it at the resort you are visiting.

They will not let you enter the gates if you do not have a reservation for dinner.
They will check your id against the reservation list.

You will park in guest parking.
They have no clue when you are done dinner or whos cars belong to who in that parking lot.
You are not "suppose" to leave your car there. Lets just say that!

they have a large parking lot always plenty of spaces

Last January (End of January- in off peak season) we drove around the parking lot for a good 30 min's trying to find a parking spot. There was not plenty of spaces. We were very frustrated.

Last time we had a reservation at The Wave for Dinner we were told to park in the BLT lot. I asked if the guard was sure and he just kept pointing to it. So we did. I have also parked close to the garden wing to stay out of the main lot for the guests.

They do not mind if you have a reservation and you are parking at the CR for a certain period of time. People that leave their cars there and go to the park are breaking the rules. Imagine if hundreds of people did that? The guests paying $400+ per night to stay there will have nowhere to park.

We have had this happen to us while staying at the Poly. It's very frustrating when you return to your resort in the evening, and they aren't any parking spots.

Like Jiminy Cricket says, "Let your conscience be your guide!" If you want to do the right thing, then pay for valet or use one of the other options previous posters have recommended to go there without parking your car.
