We are planning on eating at chef mickeys but staying off site. Can we just leave our car parked and take the monrail to the park? What does it cost to park at the hotel instead of the transportation center?

No you cannot do that. Resort parking lots are not for theme park parking. You could park @ the Contemporary (chances are they will give you a parking pass for 3 hours at the guard shack - they may check your ADR # from a list) and then move the car to the TTC when you are finished.

In reality, it's just easier to park at the TTC and take the monorail over to the Contemporary. When you're done, you can walk from CR to the MK. Parking is $14 now I believe.

No.

Resort parking is not meant for theme park access. It is meant for those staying at the resort or using the facilities of the resort. Once you are done at Chef Mickey's and leave, you are no longer using the facilities of the resort. As such, you will need to move your car.

That is why I asked....I thought many years ago, when we stayed off site, that when we checked in for our reservations, we then paid parking and left the car there. Perhaps, we left and went to the transportation center and then paid there.
I didn't mean to get anyone upset over it or not be fair....sorry!

Don't be sorry.

The issue is that this is a question asked ALL the time here... and 98% of the time it is someone who is simply trying to get around paying for parking. As such, it can be a bit of a sore issue.

The answer I gave is nearly a copy/paste of the answer I always give when someone asks. I just like to be simple and to the point.

You may have paid to valet park?

Maybe...it just seems like I paid to park..somewhere...and going to chef mickey's first then the magic kingdom....
We usually stay on site, but a few times off site, and now that we cruise all the time, I can't remember trip from trip--How awesome and sad that is!!
Thanks for explaining that it was a touchy subject...I didn't know.
Have a great night!
