Parking at Contemp after CM

We are renting a car and staying at CSR. We plan to go early one morning to Chef Mickey's for breakfast. Can I leave my car in their parking lot of the Contemp after breakfast and go to MK for a few hours?

Most likely you will be given a 3 hour parking pass, to coincide with your breakfast. So that won't allow you the time to go to MK.

What happens if I'm late, say if I take 2 additional hours to visit the park.

We were staying at the Contemporary in June of this year. I saw them towing some cars away. I don't know if they always do that, but there were several tow trucks there.

Why would you want to take parking space away from those guests who are paying to stay at the CR? The only "legal" way to do what you propose is to use (and pay for) valet parking when you arrive at CR for your breakfast.

I don't have a problem paying to park. I'm just looking to make things a little easier if we just plan a short trip into MK that morning. If using valet is an option that will not get my car towed, that's what I will do.

I watched them tow several cars off the morning of the marathon this past January.

Someone posted recently that there are signs posted there saying the parking is for resort guests only and is not for MK parking. Of course, this would be the case as otherwise there would be no space for the people who really should be parking there.

You could probably pay for valet or just park at the TTC and then go to Chef Mickey's.

Park at the TTC and take the monorail over to the CR. Then after your trip to MK, take the monorail or boat back over to the TTC parking lot.

Or just take the bus from your resort over to the MK and walk or monorail over to CM.

On the topic of towing and non-resort guests.

Take this "for-instance". A family arrives in the evening and parks their car. They take the bags out of the trunk, go into the lobby and check in. Since they are staying in the tower, they have no reason to return to their car that night. The next morning, they get up and monorail to Epcot for the day. There's no parking pass in the window. Do you honestly think that car is going to be towed? If so, how do you think that guest will react when they make it out to the parking lot?

At no point during check-in at the Contemporary do I ever recall being warned that if I don't put the pass in the window, my car will be towed. Anyone else?

Parking at the TTC is great because you can ride the monorail to Breakfast.

:cool1:  That's wonderful news!

I stay at CR often and it's always so hard to find a parking space. It's great to here that they are cracking down and enforcing the 3 hour parking pass.

CR is not parking for MK. If you want to go to Mk after eating at CR, please park at the TTC.

We were issued the parking pass by the security guard on the way in when we stayed there in january. He had a log of everyone and what their dates of stay were.

This is not the same. When you "visit" the Contemporary for a meal, you are a visitor. Therefore you are given a 3 hour visitor's pass, which is plenty of time to dine. Not enough to dine and visit the park.

When you are given the 3 hour pass, your license plate is recorded by the guard and therefore they know exactly which cars are there as visitors. This is for security reasons and to monitor how long this guest actually stays in the lot. Certainly at nonpeak times there might be some leniency in the 3 hour, but at other times as noted they do start towing these with a visitors pass.

The guest that checked in would not be given a "visitor's" pass.

I think I may have to switch my ressies to CR. Really, on this trip I may not be able to unless a good AP or code comes out. Plus, my kids love the pool area at Coronado Springs. I've stayed at the CR and had a hard time finding a parking spot. That really does stink. I wouldn't want to do that to anyone. I've stayed at CR many times and never noticed a car get towed. But knowing me, I was too wrapped up in the Disney Magic to notice anyone. Also, I would react the worst to outsiders parking at my resort. So I really have to laugh at myself for asking the question in the first place. I would valet if that really doesn't effect anything. Otherwise, I'll go to the transportation center.

Another thing to remember, with all the construction ongoing at the CR, lots of parking spaces will be filled by contractors and their workers. Plus many of the spaces are blocked by the construction over by the South Wing.

It is your responsibilty to get that pass into your car window. When checking into the Poly we have always been told to put that pass in the car as soon as possible or risk being towed in 3 hours. I always see cars being towed at the Poly.

Valet is your only option if you want to leave your car there more than 3 hours. Have fun and enjoy the breakfast!!
