We are going on the Fantasy next Spring for a 7-night cruise. Can we stay one night at BWV, take the DCL bus to Port Canaveral, and just leave our car at BWV for the week, taking the bus back when the cruise ends?

Parking at BWV is an issue even for resort guests, so it's possible they won't allow you to leave the car there while not actually a registered resort guests.

Also, it will cost you more for DCL transportation (unless it's just one person) when compared to parking at the port.
Parking at PC: $120 for a 7-night cruise
DCL Transportation: $140 round trip for 2 ($35/pp each way)

Some people have reported being able to leave their car at the resort, while others have said they were told no. I think your best bet is to contact the Boardwalk directly and check with them. I agree that it may be more economical to drive.

I agree with others that it's not likely, although depending on the time of year they may allow it. You'll almost certainly need to wait until you arrive at BWV to ask, however, as I suspect it will be left to the discretion of the manager at the time. Personally I'd prefer to drive, regardless, not only because it's more economical but also because I think it would be less stressful than hoping they allow it when I arrive.

You didn't mention if you were staying at BWV when you return. Most people who have been given permission indicated that they had a stay at the beginning and end of their trips. But even that doesn't guarantee that BWV will allow it. You can ask but I would have a plan together if the answer is "No".

Another thing you can do is to stay the night before at port at a hotel that offers a 40% off coupon to park at the port. I've stayed at the Fairfield Inn in Titusville a few times and I found it very clean, quiet, and friendly. Plus a free hot breakfast. It's an easy drive to port. i think having your car right there is the best way to end a cruise. Far less work involved in getting on the road to your next stop. Just a suggestion in case you didn't know about it.
Enjoy your cruise!

The drive to Port Canaveral is a very easy one and only takes about an hour from WDW...if that is a concern.

Also, if you are allowed to park and take the DCL bus to the port you will get there much later than if you drove yourself to the port. Buses start leaving from WDW resorts anywhere from 11:00-12:30 getting to you to the port anywhere from 12:00-2:00 (depending on how many resort stops your bus makes).

Without going to the front desk in person, it's very difficult to contact the resort directly. The published phone number for the resort actually goes to an off-site call center. This also applies if you press the front desk button on the in-room phones.

I agree with this. All of the resort front desks are very difficult to access by phone.
