parking at a resort

Hi guys,
I would like to know if you can park at a resort and then go to a park.
I know that they wont let you unless you have a res. for a resturant, but how long do they give you?
Like if we have lunch or dinner res. at the YC, could we go to see illuminations after without having to move our car?...Same with the Poly.

They will give you 3 hours. Lunch won't cut it for Illuminations, but, perhaps dinner would.

Do you know how they know how long you are there?
There are alot of cars in the parking lot. I have a hard time beleaving that they go around and check them all.
Also what happens if we are late getting back to our car. Time does get away from you when you are at WDW. Would they actually tow youre car away if you are not back in 3 hrs.? Has anyone seen this?

At the Poly, they give you a pass for your dashboard showing the expiration time. I have heard stories of towing at the Poly, probably when the lot becomes overcrowded and hotel guests cannot find spaces.

We parked at the YC last October for Yachtsman's Steakhouse and were not given a timed pass. The lot was not crowded that night, so it probably depends on the situation that day. I've found if you are staying at a WDW resort and have the parking permit, they are more flexible because they know you aren't parking there just to avoid the fee at a park.

There is a post on the Resort board about this. It is a sore spot with the people who pay to stay at these resorts (me included) and cant find a spot to park. The parks all have parking lots for guests.

They give you something to display on your dashboard. All resort guests have a permit, yours would be different if you are not staying at an onsite resort and don't have a resort parking permit.
Yes, they do check them. And, yes they do tow them. What a lot of people have a hard time understanding is that the resort parking is for resort guests and they give permits out to those that are having dinner or other business there.
If you are concerned about time getting away from you, then eat dinner and move your car to the parking lot for the park you are attending.

What happens if you pay to valet park? From what I've read, they don't put a time limit on you then, but I want to make sure. TIA!

I am staying at two of the resorts during my stay. I understand that parking for that resort should be for there guests, but they have alot of spots. There must be more spots then there are guests.
Isnt it suppose to be one of the perks for staying on site that you can park at the other resorts also.
Even if you just want to go resort hopping. I would think they would like you to do that, to get you to want to stay at one of the resorts you are checking out.

Also cant you park at the boardwalk anytime without time restrictions or reservations?
How late is the TTC open? Can you park there without worrying that you can get to your car after the parks close. Can you walk there from MK?

I have stayed at the BW when there havnt been any spots open in the lot closest to the building. Yes resort hoping is one thing. But if you are parking there to go to the park thats different. You are going to the park, not the resort. The parks have their own lots that are free to guests staying at DW.

As a perk to other Resort guest they do allow timed parking at other resorts.

No there aren't more parking spaces then guest, they have always taken in to account that many of their guest fly to Orlando and use car services...Thats why there is now a problem after 9/11 more on site guest are driving their own cars.
Plus at VWL, BWV, & BCV the DVC Resorts more then one family could be staying in the larger Villas and need extra parking spaces.
Let me see, Why as a guest a BWV should I have to park either so far away from the entrance or across the street (where BoardWalk visitors are suppose to park) while I'm a guest there. Same goes for any resort guest while you are thinking it's just one more car how could that make a difference just start multiplying your one car...that's where the trouble comes in everyone thinks "It's just me one car." Please either take a bus or park in the assigned parking lots.

We park at the BW all the time and take the boat over to MGM. The parking attendant will ask us if we're visiting the BW, and I answer honestly. Yes. We go to ESPN for a drink or two, then head to MGM for the rest of the day and night. I realize this may inconvenience the guests at the BWV, but you need to take that up with DVC.

I am not talking about DVC. The cash paying guests have it worse. DVC gets free valet. The others dont. Park at MGM and have the boat bring you to the BW.

No, because BW is free and less crowded. Maybe if that's big of a hassle for customers they will start to lose business and change or enforce their policy. But I like parking there because you can get really close to the entrance.

No time limit on valet parking, but, you will notice signs for the resorts that are near the parks that parking for the parks is not permitted.

No, it is not a perq for staying onsite. The perq is the fact that you can park in the parks parking lots at no charge. They even charge for valet parking for the guests at the resorts that have this.
No, the parking for Boardwalk is for Boardwalk guests and you will notice a sign that pretty much states that it is for the guests of Boardwalk and not for park parking.
You cannot walk to the TTC from MK as there is a HUGE body of water between the MK and the TTC and the roadways do not allow for peds. I do not know the hours for the TTC.
I do have to ask: You asked a question, you got answers, why are you arguing about the answers? I don't mean to sound rude, but, why do you find it difficult to understand that parking at "X" resort is for "X" resort guests?

all of Boardwalk is NOT owned by DVC. Apparently you missed the sign that says parking for guests of Boardwalk and not to be used to park to visit the parks. If you must use the Boardwalk parking, why not use the parking lot across the street and let the Boardwalk guests use the spaces they are entitled to and have paid for?

Perfect example of entitlement mentality. At least pay for the valet parkinig. They will never lose business and they have been enforcing it far more rigidly than in the past.

I dont want to start anything , I was just trying to get my logistics on the most centrally located area to park. I did not mean the parking at the BW resort , I ment parking for the boardwalk its self.
I was told once by a parking guard that I could at the boardwalk any time, when I asked where to park to look around. That was a few yrs ago and we ended up parking at epcot and going from there. But I wanted to be central to both MGM and Epcot.
Sorry for the controversy.

In reality, BW parking for visiting the BW is across the street from the resort. You would turn like you were visiting the BW and instead of taking the turn into the main lot, proceed up the road a little bit and the parking is there.

A few years ago they did allow folks to park at BW, but, that has changed due to the fact guests who are staying at both the DVC resort and BW could not find a place to park.
