Parking at a monorail resort and ultimately going to park??

I'm wondering if we go to the contemporary to eat at the quick service commissary would we have any problem getting into the parking lot? And then say since we are there we hop on the monorail to MK. Would there be any issue leaving our car parked in that lot all day?

Anyone have experience with this?

I know the monorail will be down a little early because they are working on it. I don't want to get stuck with the boats or busses after a MNSSHP or EMH night. We could walk to the contemporary.

Nope, that's not allowed. Parking at these resorts is for those that are eating, shopping and/or sleeping there. Those that are paying to stay there are paying a premium for close proximity to a park...so, if someone comes there, eats, and then heads to the MK? You are basically taking something that others are paying a premium for.
Now..if you want to go there to eat and pay to valet park? Whole different thing. That is fine because you are now paying as well. But to self-park is most certainly frowned upon. Will something happen to your car? Who knows. But if you don't want to 'get stuck with boats or buses' after MNSSHP or EMHs, then you need to pay to stay at the CR! That's the reason people pay to stay there. It's just not fair to stay elsewhere and then 'take' perks that someone else is paying for.

Yes, there would be an issue as the other person stated. Resort parking is not meant to be theme park parking.

If you have a ADR or just want to visit one of the resorts you will be allowed to park for 3hrs.

If you pay for Valet parking you can do this. We valeted our car at CR both of our MK days and walked over. Just tell them you are there to eat at the gate and then pull to the valet stand. We also took midday breaks and were able to come and go. Of course we did have to pay more with tipping that we would have if we parked at TTC, but the ease of in and out was worth the extra money:goodvibes

Great! Perfect tip! We stayed at CR twice in the past year (just want to try a new resort) so we are familiar with the gate, just wasn't sure how it would work to do this. Seems definitely worth the extra money! :) Thank you!

No problem. It was huge at the end of the night when the kids were exhausted to not have to wait. You just follow the path and are back at your car in no time!! Enjoy your trip:goodvibes

Thank you.... This was all I needed to know! We have an ADR and just trying to figure out how the day would work.

Your first post said you wanted to eat at the CS restaurant at CR, then you said you had an ADR. Just know that security has been known to turn people away from the CR parking lot if you're going to the CS.

We plan to do both, different days. Either way, it seems if we use valet it won't matter. But thanks for that tip.

Everyone always says the 3hr. rule do you really think Disney is going to have you towed if your there longer than 3hrs. Theres no one walking around the parking lot looking for how long you have been there...

Lol. Plenty of people have witnessed cars being towed.

You're darn tooting right I think Disney will tow cars left if the people paying the big bucks complain about the lack of parking spots. You think they'd rather peeve off a deluxe guest or enforce a rule?

They won't turn you away if you are using valet, unless you are at one of the most crowded days of the year and the parking lot is closed. We were there peak season and the parks were mobbed, we had zero problem. They can't tell you you aren't allowed to be at a hotel. What if you just wanted to tour it for a future visit? Seems like that would be a bad PR move if they did that. We went to a ton of different resorts while we were on vacation and used the valet service a lot. Never once were questioned.

I agree that parking in the lot is a huge risk especially during peak season. I don't think is happens a lot, but I would never risk being towed. Just not worth trying to save a few $$.

There have been times when we have just wanted to stop at the Contemporary or the Poly to get a bite to eat. The guard actually gave us a pass to display in our window with the time written on it when our 3 hrs expired. During busy times of the year, they have also written down our license plate number. The Contemporary's parking is very limited compared to many of the other resorts.

The folks at the gate will verify your ADR, so I don't think you'll have luck parking when you plan to eat at a counter service meal. Also, they will record you license plate number if you say you're going to valet, and they will verify with the valet. If you get past the gate and decide to self park, expect to be towed.

Verify how...call the restaurant? Check a list? Never was a list checked or a call made while we were there...is this some new policy:confused3 Are you not allowed to valet park there unless you have an ADR? Can't you walk up to see if they have open resise at CM? What if you are touring the hotel to see if you want to stay there...or meeting friends for drinks. I can see them taking your plates to confirm you do valet your car, but I doubt they are checking on your ADR.

When we went to the Poly we advised them we had an ADR and they scanned our MB to confirm before they'd let us through. I don't know if it's he norm, but it was February, so,a slower time.

We just returned home today after ten days and they scanned by wrist band anytime I entered a resort. I pulled up to the Polly, we had a ADR at kona, I figured I was going to get the third degree, asked me what he could do for me, I told him a had the ADR at kona and scanned my band. He looked at the scanner and directed to to the parking lot.. Same way at the grand Floridian with our narcoossees ADR. They scanned by band coming in at the beach club.. They didn't even look at the parking pass.

I'm not sure how much info comes up when they scan but I would be willing to bet they can tell if you have an ADR. If you just want to stop at the resort to shop or check it out, I'm guessing pending on how busy, they may let you in. A quick note on valet, the night dw and I valet parked at the grand there was a mayor bash going on. They closed valet it was so busy.
Also I'm guessing with the parking at Dtd the way it is because of construction they are most likely cracking down on the free resort parking and hoping into a park.

Seen it many times. Oh, they don't walk around the lot but security does drive around and looks for passes. Oh, and you might want to know that there are cameras and people at the entrances recording cars entering and they do know when a car had entered and thus if they are there too long. If they need to move one because the lot is too full it's pretty easy to locate a car to tow.

But more importantly the lots are posted as not for theme park parking and for a reason. The lots are too small to accommodate all the people who'd want to do this. The resort's own guests need to find a space because they really don't have any other place to park. Visitors do have other places. It's absolutely horrible to come back to your home resort and there is no place to park and it does happen.

The most important thing is to try think of others and to show courtesy to the resorts own guests and don't stay too long.
