Hi,
Wondering if I rent a car, how the parking charge works at the parks. I read that it is 14.00 to park, if I have a parkhopper, go to MK in the morning and HS at night, do I have to pay twice?? Also looking for any suggestions on parking at the lots, etc. Most people I've talked to say that renting a car and driving/parking is no problem at all. Is this most peoples experience? Thanks much!

I believe you get a receipt that you can show at the second park so you only pay once per day.

What time of year are you going? There are times (summer, Christmas, New Year) when the parking lots are full to capacity, in which case it would be better to take WDW transport between parks.

You only have to pay once to park. Simply show your receipt at the second park to gain entrance. Parking is very close at HS, Epcot, and AK. They have a small tram ride to the park. MK is alot farther. You park, take a tram to the TTC, then take the monorail or ferry across to MK.

You didn't say if you were staying onsite? If you are, you can park at the parks for FREE, simply show your resort parking pass to gain entrance.

Thanks for the replies. My family is heading out June 27--July 5th. We are a family of five and instead of staying at POR, we are considering staying outside the park, maybe at an All-star home(lots of room for the three kids), in which case we'll have a rental. I never considered that the the parks would close. We get up pretty early and imagine we would be getting to the parks early, leaving in afternoon for some rest and heading back out later afternoon, evening.

Since you are planning to be there over the holiday don't forget that if the parks close due to capacity and you leave you won't be able to get back in. Depending on the category of closure they close the parking lots first and only let in resort guests. Just something to think about at that time of the summer.

You're going to be there for one of the busiest weeks of the year. I would stay on site if at all possible. Staged closures are common that week, and the first stage is closing the parking lots.

Thanks for the info. Are there any sites that show historically when the parks/parking lots were closed?? Just curious. We won't have any problem getting to the parks in the am, but based on you comments I am a bit concerned about maybe getting back to the parks. For example, if we need to go to HS for dinner at Sci-Fi, etc. I imagine that it doesn't matter if you have a dining reservation at a park restaurant, right?? What if my offsite hotel offered transportation busses to the parks??? Would they be turned away because the parks/lots are "closed". Any more suggestions?? Thanks so much.

You are correct, having a dinner reservation does not get you in to a closed park. Historicaly the most common days the park close are NYE, Christmas day, Easter week (more likley as you get closer to Easter), and July 4th. These are just my opinion.

They close the parking lots...... the park gates don't actually close. WDW resort guests still have access to the parks. SO, if you park hop, you should be ok. If you leave with your car, there is always a chance that you don't get back in, but those instances are rare. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Also, Disney doesn't release any attendance numbers, but there are some sites that speculate as to which parks will be the busiest.

Doing a Google search came up with:
