I just got home this morning from a 4 night stay at Park Vue hotel.
I have read some reviews here that made me want to rethink but I decided to take a chance and I am sure glad I did. When I stay at WDW I most often stay at a DVC resort so I was not sure if I wanted an off site hotel but there was nothing available at DCR so I tried off site.
The hotel is small and very intimate and the people who work there were all fantastic. It is closer to the parks than any of the Disney hotels, we walked and timed it.
We were given a card to keep in our car when we arrived and the man at the booth welcomed us with a great smile. We checked in and two people were working at the desk and both quickly asked as we came in if they could help us. There was lemonade, fruit punch and warm cookies at the desk for us. The drinks were powdered mix but the lemonade was refreshing.
We had booked a king room with jacuzzi.
We went to our room and it was spotless. Everything was clean and there were plenty of thick plush towels. Plenty of shampoo (Pantene) and shower gel and Jergen's soap and lotion. We had a jacuzzi room so we also got bubble bath. The bed was a little firm since I sleep on a temperpedic at home but I did get a good night's sleep every night. Sheets were clean and the blanket was inside two sheets. I did walk across the room with my white socks on and they got a little dirty on the bottom but were cleaner than when i walk around my own house with my grandson and black lab who live where with me. The carpet was in great shape too, not worn out at all.
The gift basket was filled with bananas, oranges, apples, two bottles of water and a bottle of CA merlot along with a park Vue corkscrew bottle opener.
It was my birthday so I got a cute Toy Story gift bag with some stickers, puzzle, coloring book, and color by number set along with some candy and balloons and a coupon for a Cold Stone cake. When the employee (Lee) delivered it he asked who's birthday it was and I told him it was mine. A ferw minutes later he returned with a metal gift box filled with fresh baked cookies and candy. He apologized for bringing me a child's gift bag even thoug I assured him my grandson at home would be very happy with it and when my grandson is happy I am happy.
We were told we could pick up a bottle of water every day for our trip to the park but we did't want to carry it around so we never stopped it. I did stop in on our way back to the room every day and got a glass of lemonade because I was parched.
The pool was great, water was warm and the big jacuzzi was nice and clean. It is in the driveway but you would never know when you are in it, since it is surrounded by greenery and trees.
Breakfast every day was good. There was a waffle maker which was great along with 4 different kinds of juice, coffee, tea, toast bagels, french toast, oatmeal, two kinds of cold cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit, cottage cheese milk and chocolate milk each day. They also had had eggs, sausage gravy, sausages, fried potatoes, on different days. There was definately enough to have a good meal every day.
WSe made it to the 5 pm snack 3 of the 5 nights. We had tacos with beef, macaroni and cheese, and chips with melted spicy mexican cheese depending on the day. There was salad, cold macaroni salad, juice coffee and tea each day along with water. Some people did make it their dinner and we did on the mac and cheese night. But when we had our "snack" here we didn't need a full meal at the parks and the bengel barbecue snack on a stick was enough to finish us off.
If I ever do get back to CA I will definately stay here again, it was a great place. It was closer to the parks than the HOJO's everyone talks about and looked nucm cleaner. We walked over to HoJo's to check it out and didn't like the kids and all the noise because of the water park.
They were doing over the gym so it was closed but we do enough walking at the parks, we don't need to use gym equipment while on vacation. It will be nice though, they are replacing the tile floor and putting up new sheetrock and mirrors.
I have photos of the room that I might post later if people want to see them, but they were of our room only.
I did look into other rooms and the doubles and double with bunk beds were all nice looking rooms and very clean. There were rooms with two doubles and bunk bed so you could reasonably fit 6 people in the room although it would be tight with 6 adults since there is only one bathroom.
