Park visit used wrong tickets-not linked!

Holy cow @IsThatYouTigger ... what a pain! Thank you for this info.

So what I posted (in my post #36 above) was misleading thanks to wrong info given to me from the cast member. I believe the cast member I spoke to DID verify that my tickets were prioritized correctly while he was fooling around on his computer behind the desk... and his suggestion that I use my physical card to enter the parks was was harmless but perhaps moot. I am going to edit my post to note this.

I too am a supporter of technology but I can't believe how screwed up Disney's behind-the-scenes stuff still is. These are big issues! And yet, Disney is all over the news due to their recent attempts to cut costs on IT cast members. And then, when people call to try to resolve their issues, their customer service system is almost totally broken. GOOD GRIEF!!! :headache:

Hi all,
Although this situation has been a huge pain, I have enjoyed reading all of your insight. To give an update (I'm the original poster), someone from ticketing called me today and they are working to get me the tickets back that were wrongly taken. I am very appreciative of all their hard work to remedy this situation, it has just been a lot of stress and phone calls on my end!

At this point, I'm still frustrated that there are so many issues with the technology. I was given the wrong information over the phone a few months ago, others have been given the wrong information and it appears that all workers don't fully understand the system (as many of us have encountered). It is baffling to me that vacationers have to create multiple family names, multiple user names, 'phantom' MDE accounts, etc just to use the tickets that they have rightfully purchased for a FUN VACATION. I hope the system is made more user friendly in the future.

I will confirm when I do receive the tickets that Disney is working on getting back for me. Thanks again to everyone!

Hi all, last update from me (original poster). I got the tickets back-it was quite a process since as you all know, Disney does not offer non-expiring tickets anymore. However, I eventually got in contact with an awesome and super helpful contact in billing/tickets and she was amazing. She fixed the situation and was so friendly in doing so. Unfortunately I had to speak with a few not-so-friendly and helpful folks to get to her. But, all is fixed, my tickets are back, and my faith in Disney is restored. Thank you again to everyone for the insight!

Wow, I've been reading this thread and trying to figure it all out. I have 7 days of a NE hopper on my MDE account and it's listed first so I assume it's prioritized first. So I just purchased a 4 day hopper as part of the free dining package (so it expires) and it's listed second on my MDE. So if I want to use the 4 day hopper, I need to stop at guest services at the park I enter and have them prioritize the 4 day ticket. I don't need to do it at rope drop, I can do it later in the day?

Two more questions:
1. Can an old paper ticket which has 4 days left and is a NE hopper in my husbands name be assigned to another person other than my husband? I have not put it in MDE yet. (I'm deciding whether to save it for another trip being my husband isn't a big disney fan and it would be nice to have the NE option in case I go for say a shorter trip another time.)
2. A hopper ticket that was bought with the free dining package can't be reassigned to anyone other than the person it was assigned to on MDE, correct?

1. Technically, the ticket can be used only by the person whose finger was scanned when the ticket was first used.

I don't know the answer to number 2.

1. Non-expiring tickets cannot be transferred because the biometric scan is linked to that ticket.
2. A new, unused, valid ticket can be reassigned as many times as necessary until you actually use it and a biometric scan is linked to it.

I thought the same about number 2. However, My Disney Experience says: "Paperless tickets that are expired, in use or that were purchased as part of a package cannot be assigned to anyone else. Only the owner of a ticket may assign it to another guest."

1. Thanks. I forgot about the biometric scan!
2. I'm confused because on the MDE sight by the tickets in your MDE account it says this: "Paperless Tickets that are expired, in-use or that were purchased as part of a package cannot be assigned to anyone else. Only the owner of a ticket may assign it to another Guest." So wouldn't the ticket we got with the free dining package be a paperless ticket that was purchased as part of a package? I thought the next sentence that the owner of a ticket may assign it to another guest meant if you had a physical ticket you could reassign it vs a paperless ticket. Hope that makes sense. (Edited: NancyIL just posted the same question which I didn't see!)

However, the fact that the system used a ticket that was at my home and not the one I actually scanned seems goofy to me!

I think I was following the other thread that you posted this on, and now I know that I have to go to GS to prioritize my hoppers and my 1 day MK tickets so the hopper ticket will not be used on my MK day. I understand now that using the ticket at the turnstile will not guarantee it will be used since it is all linked to my MDE.

...honestly, there's something about all of this MDE and magic bands that still has be totally confused. o_O

If you go into your MDE account, go to the Ticket area. If the statement there is Reassign, you'll be able to reassign it. If you've already used your package and the ticket is in MDE, you should be able to reassign it as it is a valid ticket. Alternately, you can edit the name in your MDE account so it matches whoever you want to use it.

I have not gone on this trip yet. I have not paid the package in full yet.
This is what it says next to the ticket that I bought with the package:
Assigned to: (my name)
Non-Transferrable
but then there is the little information button and when you click on it, it says "Paperless Tickets that are expired, in-use or that were purchased as part of a package cannot be assigned to anyone else. Only the owner of a ticket may assign it to another Guest." and that's what has me so confused. It says non-transferrable but then there's that VERY unclear blurb! Hope I'm not just being dense but that statement seems like it's saying two different things...I really appreciate how helpful and patient you are in helping me decipher this!!

Then this is what you can do:
When you reach your resort, ask them to remove your paperless ticket from your MDE account as you want the hard, plastic ticket. Once you are given the hard, plastic ticket, you can save it for another trip or hand it off to someone else to use.

I thought you had been asking about old tickets from packages - those can be reassigned.

***If a different person will be on your trip than the one named on the package, just have them use the MagicBand, ticket, and pre-booked FPs. You don't have to edit the name unless you want to.

Hi Castle4us, I don't know about reassigning tickets to different people but I wanted to comment on your initial question about prioritizing tickets. I'm the OP of this thread and went through a lot to get back the NE tickets that the system used (that I did not want to be used). I believe you can call to have your tickets prioritized but I tried that and it clearly didn't work for me. I would recommend going to guest services before you enter the park. I would think that once you enter the park, it still can be prioritized but may be more trouble...? Whatever you do, I would highly recommend going to guest services before leaving the parks completely because it seems like it would be a lot easier to get resolved while still there in person. Good luck!

Thank you so much! I've been trying to figure this out for days!!! That's exactly what I wanted to hear.

I edited my previous reply. Are you just wanting to save the ticket or have a sub person for your trip?

Thanks. After reading through this entire thread and hearing so many stories about CM's giving incorrect information, if I do prioritize them I would most certainly do it at the park before entering! And I most certainly would have it double checked to see if tickets were used correctly. Wow, what a hassle, but I feel so lucky to have found this thread so I can be prepared. Just think of the people who don't check and maybe don't go back to Disney for a few years only to find out they don't have the tickets they thought they had. Thanks for starting this thread so the rest of us can be prepared!

I edited my previous reply. Are you just wanting to save the ticket or have a sub person for your trip?

I'm on the fence about what to do with the tickets.
1. I could use my NE hopper that has days left on it and save the two day hoppers purchased with the package for someone else. (this would average the cost per ticket to be more in the long run but be less expense right now) OR,
2. I could upgrade the two day hopper I had to buy with the package to cover the trip, thus saving the NE hopper ticket for another trip or two being they are NE (each trip could be shorter in duration). This is the cheapest per day way to go but would cost me more money right now.

Also trying to figure out what to do with my husbands tickets. He has 4 days left on the ticket which he's used so it has the biometric scan. He doesn't go to Disney as much as I do so it may make more sense to just have him use it and save the 2 day expiring hoppers for someone else vs. upgrading his two day expiring hoppers and having him save the biometric scan tickets for another trip. Hope you understood that, I tried to make it as clear as I could!
I think I overthink these things, but just trying to get the best value :)

I'm not sure what number of days total you'll need ticket-wise.

You could use your two-day hopper (keep it in MDE) and then use the 2nd two-day hopper (that you pull off of your husband's MDE) to upgrade your hopper to a higher value ticket. It just depends on the total number of days you'll need.

Were only going to be in the parks for 4 days. According to looking on the Disney website, If I use 2 two day hoppers to make 4 days of parks, that would = 515.46. If I upgrade a two day hopper to 4 days it would cost 392.99 thus saving me 122.47. So that would be good for me to do being I can save my NE hopper for other trips. I'm not sure I would do that for my husband though because then he still has a NE hopper with 4 days in his name. Not sure if I can get him back another 4 days, ha!
