Park visit used wrong tickets-not linked!

OP, I have seen a few posts like yours since magic bands came into existence. If I remember correctly, everyone finally got their tickets fixed - once they talked to the right person at Disney. It should be very easy for a ticket CM to look at the recent ticket usage in your MDE account and figure out that the wrong tickets were pulled.

I wonder if the problem is reinstating non-expiring tickets since Disney doesn't sell them anymore?

Tickets can be reassigned to others depending on their type. I don't think non-expiry can be reassigned.

Tickets cannot be deactivated; only MagicBands can be deactivated.

What does it mean if you mark a ticket as "inactive" then??

So you're saying even if I deactivated my ticket it is not deactivated? I think I may try that out on my next trip - deactivate my ticket and see if I get into the park still. Can I make fast pass reservations using deactivated tickets? I may try that out in a few weeks.
Do you have the hard, plastic ticket? That is what erionm states gets deactivated.

The ticket entitlements will still be deducted if you enter the park using your MagicBand.

The safest way to ensure a ticket isn't used is to reassign it to a phantom in your MDE list. Then, reassign it back to you before you need to use it.

The physical ticket is deactivated. The digital version of that ticket (which is what is linked to your MDE) remains active.

This would prevent someone else from using the physical ticket for admission if it should get lost or stolen, but it would still allow the rightful owner to use it with their MB.

You can't reassign a non-expiring ticket after it has been used.

I learned something new today!

True. But, you can add on a person with a slightly different name for a room reservation and linked tickets and then the non-expiry tickets would have remained safe in the OPs MDE account. OP didn't want to use his non-expiry tickets so the new room reservation could have consisted of people with Middle Names or Initials.

So, piggybacking on the OP's problem, I have a question that will impact an upcoming trip we have planned.

My husband has 8 days remaining on a 10-day no-expiry hopper that is linked to his name in MDE. I'd rather not use those days on our upcoming trip because he will be in meetings 3 of the 5 days that we're there. I'd rather use the "after 2 PM" tickets that are sold to conventioneers. If we link the after-2 tickets in MDE, can we just tap those tickets at the entrance to the park instead of using the MB to ensure that the correct ticket gets deducted? Or will Disney's system still try to deduct the day from the no-expiry ticket first?

Use the Convention ticket and the system will only deduct the Convention ticket entitlement. At the FP lines, tap the MB or the ticket. The FP system does not access the ticket database; it only checks the FP database.

Hi All,
I have a major issue that Disney is 'looking into' but wanted to see if anyone else has had this experience before. I am a long-time Disney veteran, have been to the parks many times, used Magic Bands on about five trips, experienced with My Disney Experience, etc. Three of my family members had four days left on our 10 day non-expiration tickets from a few years ago. These were visible on my Disney account but were not linked to a recent trip. We went on a trip in June that was purchased as a MYW package that included 5 day park tickets and 4 night hotel stay. This was all obviously linked together, I planned fast passes, etc. We got back a few weeks ago and I just realized that the system used the last four remaining days of our non-expiring tickets first (these were NOT linked to this trip) and then used one day of our 5 day ticket. I'm flabbergasted. I called Disney and eventually, after much begging, got transferred to Guest Services. He is looking into it because doesn't understand how this happened and does not think he can get my 'lost' 4 days of park tickets back. This seems completely wrong to me because there is no reason whatsoever that the 10 day non-expiring passes should have been used.

Has anyone had this happen before? There clearly was a major glitch in the system. I even called twice before the trip to ensure that the correct 5 day tickets would be used and our remaining days on the non-expiring tickets would not be touched and was told by two different people that I was set.

Any insight? Thanks so much!
 :scared1: OH I AM SO SORRY. That is terrible. I hope they can fix that for you. :grouphug:

Thank you all for this insight. I have read so much on these boards but this is news to me. I just don't understand how the recent trip was booked as a 'package deal' (room on property and tickets to match number of days) but the system used the older non-expiring tickets instead of the tickets purchased with the room package (all purchased through AAA). I'm waiting for Disney to call me back. Whomever said above that all activity is recorded in the system is correct. Over a five day period, I visited the park five times but nine ticket days were taken from me. Clearly, this is not correct and should be fixed. Thanks again to all for your insight!

It's true that you bought a package, but a package isn't all that. Basically, you got a room (people without packages also get rooms), you got tickets (same MYW tickets as anybody else at WDW). The package tickets don't have to match your resort stay. You could book a Free Dining package with a minimum of 2-day tickets; or book a package with paid dining with minimum of 1-day tickets.

Here's what I'd like Disney to do so innocent guests like you and many others don't run into trouble. MyDisneyExperience should question you, or give you instructions on what to do when more than one ticket is listed per person. If Disney's ticket program isn't sophisticated enough to allow guests to prioritize their multiple tickets in MDE, then AT LEAST, the park entry gate personnel should be alerted to your multiple ticket situation when you try to enter a park, and they should send you to the nearby Guest Relations to have your tickets prioritized.

In regard to your current situation, I know that Disney will fix this for you. But it's a big, ugly, black hole that a number of people are falling into, and it should be changed in some way so this no longer happens. Other theme park operators would die to have people with multiple tickets stacked up, ready to use on current and future trips! So the least Disney should do for such enthusiastic guests is to make every stay memorable for the right reasons!

Good points. In addition to that they need to figure out how to get rid of ghost tickets. I have a pair that have been stuck for 2 years

And they could stand to fix the party ticket used at 4:00 problem. I thought it was fixed but we got bit by it last December. We went in at 4:30, so not even cutting it close, and it used our park ticket vs the party ticket. I had to get that fixed the next day, and the next when CM #1 didn't fix it right. It was a pain but we got 2 more park days in the end as part of the fix

Don't know of a fix for ghost tickets, except to create phantom people on your MDE account and transfer the ghost tickets there. But about the party tickets, the park is open until 7pm for non-party guests. If Disney's ticketing system was having any operational problem, your 4:30 party entry might have been missed for that reason. Pretty sure I read here that there's 1 or 2 special entry lines at MK for party ticket users. Maybe those machines run a special program to just read party tickets (just-a-guess?). Not a perfect solution, but may be helpful for your future party visits.

It is my nightmare. I also have non-expiry tickets and tickets for my upcoming package. I emailed Disney last year, and knew I need to go to a Guest Service counter to prioritize the tickets. However, I'm still so worry that either I forgot to do it, the CM mess it up or something. Paranoid!! That's me.

After this trip, the MDE I'm using now will be for room only. I will a new MDE for each new package, if I book one. It is not like Disney give any incentive to their loyal guests. I don't want to worry about what ticket is being used. Probably I can start getting some promotion by using different MDE. LOL

Tried that, can't transfer the ghost tickets to anyone else. They came in handy this last trip. I could wait till we got to Disney to buy the AP since I booked our FP with just the ghost tickets on MDE

I'm sure they had some glitch that night. In the end it benefited us

OP, Disney really SHOULD fix this for you. Their system is not intuitive. They have to realize that these mistakes are bound to happen!

In May, I had an annual pass which was about to expire, and also a 3 day hopper ticket, linked to my MDE profile. I wanted to use my active annual pass FIRST (of course!), and then the park hopper next, as my AP expired mid-vacation.

I went to my resort concierge to verify that the system would use my AP first, and was told that it wouldn't -- I would have to prioritize the tickets on the account. But then the gentleman said it was a screwy system and to be absolutely 100% safe, I should tap my plastic AP card to the entry kiosk when entering the parks, instead of my magicband, to make sure my AP was used and no days deducted from the park hopper. Just to be safe. Then, once inside the parks I could tap my magicband at the fastpass kiosks etc. as usual. He strongly suggested I use the physical ticket at entry.

So if you have the physical ticket, use THAT to enter the park, not the magicband! If it's an old-tech ticket, or if you have no physical ticket, go to guest services and see if they'll issue you a physical ticket that will work with the new kiosks. (I don't know what they'll do, but I would be sure to ask and get some sort of resolution before you enter the parks.)

EDIT - I may be totally wrong on this - see post #60 on the next page for better info!! (I believe the cast member I spoke to DID verify that my tickets were prioritized correctly while he was fooling around on his computer behind the desk... and his suggestion that I use my physical card to enter the parks was was harmless but perhaps moot.)

We had some ticket problems as well last year. We had bought 7-day WPFM from UT and made a room-only ressie for our trip. These tickets were linked in MDE so we could make our FP selections 60 days in advance. About 50 days before our trip, there was a new free dining offer so we decided to change our reservation for a package to get the free dining. We then had to add 2-day tickets in order to get the offer, and they were also automatically linked in MDE. We intended on using ( and upgrading) these on a future trip. When we first got there, we went to Disneyquest on our first day so I thought that the 7-day tickets (with the WPFM option) were on priority one since we used them first... How wrong was I! We went to check on our tickets priority only AFTER our first day at MK and found out that the 2-day tickets had been used for entering the park that day :scared1: It took a while, but the CM was able to fix everything and I had these 2-day tickets removed from our MDE and put on actual cards. Fast forward to October. My dh has to go to Orlando on business (we should all be so lucky ) and he intends on using his 2-day ticket. We were able to link it into MDE but it wouldn't let us make FP selections, saying that this ticket had expired! :worried: After a couple of lenghty phone calls, it was discovered that the 2-day tickets had been removed from our account but they were still "activated" during our August vacation and had expired 14 days later...
Disney did make it somewhat alright by adding back 2-day tickets in our MDE for everyone in our party (of 6) but they are now complimentary tickets and cannot be upgraded in any way o_O In the end, we didn't really "lose" anything but we were counting on upgrading these tickets as our trips are definitely longer than 2 days! History will NOT repeat itself this year as I have assigned these tickets to "new" family members created in our MDE, which I know won't work for the OP since the NE tickets can't be re-assigned after they've been used, unfortunately

After reading through this thread I decided to go and check my MDE just to see what it has listed for me. It shows that I "manage" 3 cards. When I click on those cards they show up as Type: Key to the World. It gives me the option of deactivating the card and it also has a box to check that says Card is Lost. Does anyone know what these might be?

Old tickets.

so..... I think I may have asked this elsewhere but again- if I have old tix n my MDE that I don't want to use, and some new rfid tix that I do want to add and use, if I add the new tix to my acct- can I make FP+ ahead of time, and just use the RFID cards I will have with me? I won't be getting MB anyway- or do I still have to go to guest services to prioritize? will the FP+ be attached to the old tix or the new ones? how will I know ahead of time?
