Park tickets

I didn't realize this was even an option until I started reading up on it here, and now I need some help!

We went to WDW for the very first time in 2008 and had some rather bad experiences at Pop. So when we were checking out and I told them we probably weren't returning to WDW they gave us a 1 day pass valid that would expire in 5 years.

So now we're planning our 2nd trip and we have some additional family coming, plus we're having to get a ticket for DS this time since he'll be 4 this time around and will need a ticket.

I've booked a package deal thru the WDW site and chose the 2 day park pass, thinking that we'd just buy an additional ticket for the remaining family members that needed it.

But now, after reading some on here, I'm wondering if I should have paid for a 1 day ticket for all of us and then upgraded the 2 additional days needed to our unused ticket and do the same for the additional family members.

So...recapping and making a long story short:
5 day stay, with 3 days at the park
4 adults, 2 kids (ages 4 and 12)

Currently have:
3 unused adult 1 day park tickets
6 pending 2 day park tickets

What will be the easiest, and best, thing to do?

Help! :) (and thanks!)

If the ticket says "Comp" on the back, you can not upgrade these. From the ticket sticky: Special Tickets include Touch of Magic, YES (Youth Educational Series) Program, used or unused Special Event Tickets (MNNSHP, MVMCP, NoJ) after the date of the event, any ticket that includes the word “comp”, “complimentary”, "SPORT", or "YOUTH" on it, and any tickets that are not sold at the Park Gates cannot be upgraded or modified in any way. The last group also includes most convention tickets and the Ultimate Park Hopper tickets not sold in the US or Canada. See Post #5 for more information.

Thanks...I'll check on the cards that we were given.

But for the remaining members of the party...rather than buying a separate ticket, we should just add the day after we've gone to the first park and activated/scanned in the cards...right?

So you really have 5 adult ticket and one child, thus I would do the following. 1.Keep all the tickets as is now. 2. Upgrade the child ticket and two adult ticket to a three day pass. 3. Use the one day comp tickets with the other 3 adult 2 day tickets. The cost to upgrade the 3 tickets is $191.70.

Three days in the parks, ordered two day multiday tickets with the resort vacation package.

Go to the parks as you would normally on the first two days, using the package tickets.

On the third day, some (three) of you take the one day separate complimentary tickets and enter the park. The rest of you upgrade your spent ticket cards to have one more day and then enter the park.

Note that those of you who used the comp tickets will use the comp tickets to get fastpasses. Those of you who upgraded their original tickets will use the original tickets to get fastpasses.

Just pulled out the cards from our 2008, and they do say comp on the front.

When and where is the best time to upgrade the other cards? After we've scanned and gained entry into the park, correct?

And using the comp cards we have won't mess up our dining plan...we'll just have to use the original kttw cards we get when we check in, right?

WDW is so overwhelming!!! :)

And a special thanks to Disneycouple99 for giving me a dollar amount, I still haven't figured out how the whole upgrade costs works and I've read the sticky at the top of the forum that deals with this issue I don't know how many times!

Simple rules for ticket upgrades.

After you use a ticket to enter a theme park at least once...

Subtract the cost of the ticket that you HAVE (what it would cost new at the gate that day) from the cost of the ticket that you WANT (what it would cost new at the gate that day,) and you would owe that difference price for the upgrade.

(All prices, plus tax.)

No, using other tickets won't mess up dining. Your credits are still on your KTTW card, so that's the one you give to your server.
