New to the program and have a question...Do we order park passes and DDP through the reservation or when we arrive at the hotel? Do DVC members get discounts like AAA members do? Thank you.:goodvibes

Member get $100 off APs/PAPs. You can order these from the Member site, or just buy when you arrive. You MUST have the blue member card and a photo ID (driver license) with the same address as the members home. No discounts on other tickets. Members do get "members Perks" dining discounts, rec activity discounts... These change from time to time and you can see them on line and are give a current list when you check in.
If you want the DDP, you must tell MS prior to arrival.

If I understand it correctly I can purchase an AP through MS. I will get a voucher that I exchange for the actual AP at when I get there, is this correct? Where do I get the actual AP's?

Yes, you get a voucher # and you can pick up your AP's at any ticket counter or guest services at the parks. For example, we picked up our AP tickets at Guest Services at MK once we got there.

so does that mean that my kids who live with me and are 18 and 21 don;t get a discount since they don;t have a blue card

As long as they are family members and live with you, yes, they can get an AP also. The operative wording is that they have some legal document like a drivers license etc that says your address as their residence.

thank you. it seems hard to keep up with all the rules and regulations areound things. I have only bought any pass once since even though we have 700 points only come down once or twice a year

And just when you think you get it ... the rules change and you start all over. :thumbsup2

Hmmmm.....got me thinking. I won't be getting an AP b/c I am going this August and then (hopefully) early December of 2009 so I don't think that makes sense. So.....can i still try for a AAA discount for tickets ahead of time or do I have to somehow have them linked to DVC? :confused3 Thanks so much! :goodvibes

Interested as well on how to get the best deals on passes other than AP. We don't get down often enough to make APs worth our while. Thanks! popcorn::

I also saw your post on the other thread, and I quickly went to the Disney ticket calculator to see where we stood.

We break even at around 8 days. That's just on admission, so once you factor in the DDE, the PAP is a true no brainer.

Actually, if you subtract our savings from the DDE, the PAP is esentially free. :thumbsup2

I keep an eye on the Budget board, and if you subscribe to Mousesavers newsletter you learn when there are specials on MYW tickets from Undercover tourist. Also, keep an eye out here and on the Budget board to learn when the ticket prices are expected to go up. We've beat the deadline two years in a row now, thanks to the Disboards! I buy MYW tickets as presents.

I am DVC and have an AP, but the rest of my family doesn't. I just bought their tickets through AAA. They only sell up to 5 day tickets, but once they are used they become "gate value" for an upgrade. I have the AAA VISA so I saved $100 off the tickets from my AAA Visa rebates. I also saved additional $5.25 per ticket when I charged them on my AAA Visa. That was in addition to the AAA discount (about $12 less than gate price). That made the 5 day AAA ticket cheaper than the Undercover Tourist price. Plus I got the preferred parking pass just for buying my tickets there. We often drive to the parks and that parking pass comes in handy.

Now I just have to figure out if there is any chance we will return within the year. If we do, I will upgrade their tickets to AP.

I just helped friends who will be staying with us this summer find their tickets.

The military discount tickets from Shades of Green were by far the cheapest. If you're military, retired military, or DoD civil servant, this is the way to go. One person in your room can sponsor buying tickets for the whole room, so you don't all need to have military ID cards.

The next best deal I found was from UndercoverTourist.com. They beat the AAA prices by a few bucks. There's also a discount from the Kissimmee Wal-Mart, but it wasn't as good as the others I checked.

We are a military family and purchased our tickets at SOG then upgraded those to APs. The tickets at SOG were cheaper than the ones we could have ordered at the ITR office on base. The big discount is that we don't have to pay the sales tax on the tickets.

When you upgrade your tickets from MYW to an AP then you get full credit for the MYW ticket price as if you had paid tax on them so you actually come out ahead that way if that makes any sense.
