We are staying at the Saratoga Springs in August. Today the mail came and we received cards as opposed to the arm bands I heard about. Were we suppose to receive the bands?

Where do you live?
How did you order your tickets? (What kind of delivery?)

You could have (should have, really) ordered you tickets as "Will Call" pick-up.

You WILL be getting MagicBands (wristbands, not armbands) within about 2-3 weeks of your arrival at WDW.

You'll receive your MagicBands a few weeks prior to your trip. You must have ordered Tickets to be mailed to you.

You could have (should have, really) ordered you tickets as "Will Call" pick-up.

That way the tickets would not have been delivered to you and you would not have had
to pay for delivery.
(You do not NEED the actual tickets, anyway.)

Those are your admission tickets. After you add and assign the tickets to your My Disney Experience account, the Magic Band will be linked. Make sure you do that before your 60 days window, so you can book your FP+ at 60 days.

If you purchase as a vacation package, then the MB is loaded with the admissions.

If it isn't already, your room reservation needs to be linked to your MDE account in order to customize the MagicBands for the resort stay. If you have a US mailing address, the MagicBands will be mailed to you. For non-US addresses, the MagicBands will be waiting at the resort for pickup at check-in.

You should already have a MyDisneyExperience account if you have booked a WDW resort.
Open it on-line and see if your tickets are already linked to that account.

Directly from Disney?

You get Magic Bands when you stay onsite. They act as your room key. If you also happen to have tickets, they can act as your ticket, too.
