Rented points for an upcoming stay. Are there any discounts available to us because we will be DVC guests? Tickets, food, boat rentals, parasailing???

Thanks,

No on the ticket discounts. Don't know about the rest, but I wouldn't think so since you are a not a member and will not have the membership card.

go to MouseSavers.com and signs up for the newslettering and once you get that email, their is a link to undercover tourist website. They have the best tickets prices that I have seen for the Disney parks.

As far as other discounts, the answer is "Maybe." You'd definitely need the actual membership card for the AP discount, but dining, tour and other discounts really depends upon the CM processessing the transaction. Sometimes they require our Memebership card, sometimes the just give the discount seeing the room key without my asking for it.

Bottom line is, officially, you are not entitiled to them, so you have no recourse if denied...but sometimes you'll probably get lucky.

As an onsite guest, you will be entitled to the benefits all onsite guests get -- free parking at theme parks, early and late park hours, DME, etc.

As a DVC points guest, you will be able to get the Disney Dining Plan without having to purchase unneeded park tickets. Other than that one difference, all other rules, regs, and benefits of the DDP are exactly the same.

If you want the DDP, the owner you rent from will have to make those arrangements through Member Services in advance of your trip, and you will pay for DDP at the front desk at checkin. DO NOT wait until the last minute to let the owner know you want DDP, because they have to make that call for you.

The owner will also have to set up DME for you, if you want to use it.

As far as DVC Member perks, Chuck is right. You might get lucky, but don't count on it.

The perks you might get aren't any big deal anyway, and whenever we've used any perks the last couple of years, we've been asked for our membership card. So don't get upset if you are denied something you're not entitled to anyway.

You'll be a DVC guest IF you are staying with the member for no compensation. If you paid a member for a reservation, you are not a guest. You are renting a reservation and not entitled to any DVC perks or privileges.
