Park tickets and mb

We usually wait until we get there and buy tickets at the resort. We want to do fp+, so I guess now we need to get the tickets now. The trip is the week after Christmas. It seems very convenient just to order them from the mde website, but do I need paper tickets in order to use the old way?

Yes you will need a paper ticket to access the old FP machines. I just ordered my tickets for your Christmas tickets from DME site and it was very easy! You have two options you can have the tickets sent to your home and once you receive them link them to your acct. OR you can chose the will call option where you will be giving confirmation #s that you will use to link the tickets to your account then you will just pick up the hard picks at will call at one of the parks.

If you order tickets now you can put them in MDE, you can do FP+ on line at MDE. Those FP+ will be on your magic bands.When you arrive, you will also get the traditional room key cards, and both the MBs and room keys will be able to open room and have park tickets on them. To get additional Fastpasses at the park, you should be able to use the magic bands if the booths are set up to take them or room keys if booths are still old ones. Note I have seen mention by other members that eventually they intend to do away with Fastpasses at the parks. I don't know if that is true but I suspect it is only partly so, and that really what Disney is referring to as removing Fastpasses at the parks is simply having it set up so there are no longer any paper Fastpasses and instead they will just be put on your magic bands at the parks.
