Park Ticket Questions- I'm confused

I am new to this and a little confused and I hope someone can help. We received 6 day hopper tickets as a gift from a family member. I then booked a Room Only reservation with Disney for our stay. I originally booked 7 nights at Port Orleans Riverside then decided to add 2 nights at Art of Animation PRIOR to the Port Orleans dates. I linked everything to my account on My Disney Experience but I am trying to figure out since the tickets are purchased separate and its not a Disney "package" I can start using them on my Art of Animation dates correct? Or do I need to wait until the original Port Orleans booking starts? Also, if I can use them starting with out Art of Animation stay, am I able to add more days to our tickets?

3. Yes. You can add up to a total of 10 Theme Park "days" at a cost of just $10 per added "day."
And, you can add the "Water Parks Fun and More" option for just $26 per ticket.

The tickets are in no way "connected" to your resort stays.

All prices, plus tax.

You can book for as many "days" as you have tickets, starting as early as 60 days before your earliest check-in at a WDW resort.

As Robo said, the tickets are not connected to your resort reservations so you can begin using them anytime you wish even if you are not staying at a disney resort. The tickets are only activated once you enter a park on day one and the ticket will expire at the end of day 14, so if you entered a park on October 1st the ticket would expire at midnight on October 14th even if you had not used all of the 6 days. Also each ticket is independent of the others.
