How exactly do the park passes work for DVC???
My family and I have always went to WDW on package deals where the tickets are included, and you get your room key that also worked for entry into the park. Does this still stay the same, or since we have to get the passes on our own --- do we have a room key and a park pass that need to be carried around???
How does it work if you want to buy things in the park and have them sent back to your room?

We are hoping to become DVC members in the next couple of weeks, unless I am able to work out a resale for BWV (not likely) in which case it would be a little longer.

Thanks!!

You can purchase all your passes @ the boardwalk. Just visit the customer service desk located to the right of the check-in desks. DVC members get a 10% discount on length of stay passes only. MKC members get a 10% discount on hopper passes also. They will also put your park passes on your hotel room key.
I have read somewhere that they will ship your purchases to your hotel room, however I never used this service so I can't really say.

Nothing really changes. You can buy passes when you check in at hotel and those can be put on your room key. Your room key can also act as a resort credit card. As you are staying on site, packages can be delivered to your room.

You can still buy a length of stay pass(or whatever they call it now) and have it put on your room key. DVC members get a 10% discount on this ticket media. You can also drop the 1st or last days (maybe both) if your're arriving late or leaving early.
It may be more cost effective if you plan your trips right to buy annual passes. Then you would have a pass and a room key.
As for sending purchases back to your room, that is not a problem, they'll be sent to the resort, then I'm not sure if you pick them up or they are placed in your room
Good luck with your purchase.......spruce

WHat if you buy your passes before going to WDW, say like buying from the Disney Store. Will they still be able to put your tickets on your key card??

At the Boardwalk Villa's the packages no longer go directly to your room. You pick them up at the Gift Shop on the boardwalk; the one connected to The Screendoor Grocery Store. You'll get a phone call when they are available for you to go and get them.
That's still better than having to carry stuff in the parks! :)

Balou3 - I have read different stories regarding adding passes to room keys. I asked to have it done just last month and was told it could not be done. However, I have read here, that some asked and it was done for them. The CM actually voided the passes and then "repurchased at the same price" at the time of check in so it could all be added on the room. So who knows...I guess it depends on the CM or maybe the rules change very fast!! :)

BillK - are you packed?? Oh...when do I come to meet you and the Mrs. so I can join you to carry the luggage???? :) I bet you thought I forgot.......:D

Once you join DVC you need to look at how often you will visit WDW. If you expect to spend 8 or more days within a 12 month period, you might be better off buying an Annual Pass or a Premium Annual Pass. These can't be bought at the resorts. You purchase them at the Guest Service booths at the Parks or in DD. There is one at the International Gateway entrance to Epcot.

Instead of having the packages sent to your room, you also have the option of having them sent home................They won't charge you Florida sales tax if you do this, for large purchases that will cover the cost of the FEDEX...
