Hi everyone,
Please excuse me if this is posted somewhere else, but we are going to Uni for the first time as we are typical disney goers! Anyway, if I book hotel (prob Royal Pacific) separate from buying park tx do I still recieve the express pass with the hotel? I typically by our disney tx through Undercover Tourist depending on the discount in upcoming newsletter. However, now I am concerned that the unlimited express pass does not come with hotel stay unless I book tx at the same time. Can anyone clarify this for me? Also any other newbie advice would be great. Been scouring boards and everyone has some great insight. We are traveling in July (I know its going to be hot but only time I could get off work!) and we are taking our 10 yr old son and 8 yr old daughter.
Thanks in advance!
Melanie

Park tickets and hotel perks are totally unrelated. You can purchase your tickets wherever you like and book your hotel stay wherever you like. You'll still get the hotel perks.

I see DAMO beat me while I was typing lol Book your hotel site here http://www.loewshotels.com/en/booking/uo?hotel=UEPBH,UEHRH,UERPR you can compare prices off all the hotels. Your EP comes with your hotel RPR, HRH, or PBH not Cabana bay. You can check in as early as 7 am and they will give you room keys which you will scan at a kiosk in the hotel to print out your EP which will have each persons photo on them. Leave your luggage with star services and they will bring it to your room when it's ready. Yes, Undercover Tourist is a great place to get your tickets. It is recommended that you do not get a hotel/ticket package and that you purchase separately since packages come with with penalties. Booking through the hotel site above, if you find a cheaper rate (I constantly check...obsessively lol) you can call and they will lower your rate. We've been in August and December....Just be prepared for flash downpours between 1-4 daily lol. Most of all have a great time. I'm sure others will come along and mention more tips. Remember to read, read, read! There is a ton of info and check out the Trip Reports....especially the ones with lots of pages and pictures ;)

A follow up to the original question, with another question. We're "UNI" newbies too. I'll bet we haven't been there since the 90's. I did book at the PBH so I do understand what Express Pass means. However, I haven't purchased tickets yet, and am planning on using Undercover T. My question is related to those tickets. We're checking in on Thursday, November 13, and checking out Sunday, November 16, heading to Disney. I'm sure we won't be at PBH until 1pm or so on check in day. How many days of tickets do I need to buy? I get that I'll need to buy park to park tickets....but wouldn't a 4th days ticket be a bit of a waste? We have Magic My Way tickets at Disney so we could be in a Disney park at Rope Drop if we wanted, on that departure Sunday from UNI. I'm leaning toward a 3 day park to park, for Thursday/Friday/Saturday, and just heading to Disney Sunday morning. Anyone have any thoughts/suggestions?:confused3

I think your good with the 3 day park to park, then that way if you can relax the first day when you check in. The grounds at PBH are very nice and we enjoy just taking the boat over to City Walk and having dinner that first night.

So you have part of Thursday, all of Friday and Saturday, and the potential for part or all of Sunday.

I personally would wait until after park hours come out for your stay to buy your tickets. Because if the parks close early on Thursday, you won't get much time there.

I'm seeing a definite need for 2 days. Maybe 3 depending on how long you would get on Thursday. And then I would see how you're feeling on Saturday; you might be like we were, and suddenly NOT want to go to WDW! We thought we were one-and-done for Universal. And here we are. Third year of having Universal APs. That first trip we thought we were leaving at noonish to head back to WDW (split trip...WDW, then Uni, then WDW), and stayed until we absolutely had to go for our dinner at Sanaa. So you might find yourself wanting to upgrade to add another day to that ticket. :)

regardless of the amount of days..You will NEED PARK TO PARK tickets if you are at all interested in riding the Hogwarts express
