Just wanted to give everybody an update on some plans I previously posted about. I asked about the Christmas After Hours party during our two-day trip November 13 and 14. I’m going to visit with my son. After much discussion, we decided to skip the party and use that money to buy Park Hoppers.
The plan now (instead of one day at MK and one at Epcot) is to do early morning hours at Magic Kingdom, then hop over to Hollywood Studios on the first day. Second day will be Animal Kingdom in the morning, followed by Epcot (hopefully Remy reopens on time). Now I'm just trying to figure out where and when we need Lightning Lanes. Costs are definitely adding up. I don't know if anybody ever posted about this, but Disney has gotten expensive!
My son has not done Tron, Slinky Dog, or Rise of the Resistance, so those will be priorities, and I haven’t done Remy or Guardians. I prefer not to buy both LLMP and individual passes each day, but I’m not sure these plans will work out well without them.
I understand that we can't pick rides from two different parks ahead of time, but once we scan into one ride, we can pick a ride from a different park.
I think for day one, the hope is that the MK lines won't be so bad during the day because of the After Hours event. Not sure if that will hold true because there are three after hours events that week (and two days in a row).
We will get there for early morning hours and hit Space Mountain, then wait on the line for Tron. Is the Tron line worse in the morning or later in the day?
Other option is to just buy the single pass for Tron, but I think the real priority is the LLMP for later in the day at HS. The obvious concern is getting everything done in the 3 or 4 hours that we're at HS. That is why I’m thinking LLMP and pick three rides for later in the day. I might get the individual pass for Rise of the Resistance, but, again, then the cost will add up very quickly.
Is the best strategy LLMP, pick evening times at HS, then the LLSP for Galaxy and just wait on the line for Tron? We’ve done everything else at MK many times so if we miss a few things it’s not as big a deal and I know ROTR breaks down a lot so the last thing I want to do with limited time is waste time waiting on line and still not be able to ride it. Does this strategy make sense?
Other option is to roll the dice and just get on the ROTR line at the end of the day (do they still have the rule that as long as you are on line by closing you are getting on the ride?).
For day two, we are going to start early at Animal Kingdom, just to do the three rides we want (Pandora, Dinosaur, Everest), then hop over to Epcot for the bulk of the day using Lightning Lanes there. Probably choose Remy, Spaceship Earth, and Soarin. We have no problem doing single rider lines, so that should help with Test Track. Contemplating buying the LLSP for Guardians.
Big question- Since we are doing the Lightning Lanes and choosing later times, I'm not sure what other rides will be available after we start scanning in. Safe to assume that I'm basically just paying for my three rides and probably no others (other than maybe stuff like Figment, which usually has no line anyway)?
Also- will this strategy of trying to pick later times work? Can I, for example, choose 6pm Slinky, 7pm Toy Story Mania and 8pm Twlight Zone a week out?
or is the better strategy to choose really early lightning lanes at the first park, then after I use them, pick later ones at park 2? My concern there is that the ones we want won't be available. For example, let's say we book Everest and Dinosaur, then try to book Epcot rides, will the main ones even be available the day of?
We already have the two-day tickets and just need to add the Lightning Lanes. Again, I don’t love adding both LLMP and LLSP (I know I’m not alone in these thoughts). First time we're doing such a short trip, so it will definitely be a new experience.
I just realized I buried a ton of questions in this rambling thread! I’ve been to Disney World a half dozen times, but not in the past 5 years, so any advice you can give is seriously appreciated.
Thanks for any help.
