Has Disney begun limiting items, like bottled water, that you can carry into the parks due to the recent terrorist alerts? Have they taken any other additional security measures? We leave in just a few days, and I am wondering what to expect at the entrances. Thanks.

I dont think they will, ground targets are not as easily affected. The bombs that were thought of for the uk - us flights were very small yet would be enough to bring down a plane because they are so delicate. In an open space it would hurt the people directly beside it, as in one or two feet away.

Hopefully they aren't so paranoid as to escalate security to such a degree. Cars are a lot more dangerous than the type of binary bombs that water bottles and such can be used as. Even talk of this saddens me greatly. Terrorists are awful and vile, but please try and remember that this is the reason they engage in their activities and it is so much more likely to be killed in a car accident then to fall victim to one of these disgusting attacks. Of course some precautions must be taken, but there are limits. The surest way to stop it is catch the would be terrorists, not protect ourselves with a million inhibiting securities that can only stop a particular method.

In response to the original question, I'm sure if Disney makes such a move they will widely advertise it as will cause great distress and expense to many that visit their parks.

I certainly agree with this poster's statement. The UK bombs may ahve effected certain things, but water bottles? I dunno.

We were down there when these new terrorist attack threats were released. We went to Epcot that day. They usually do a baggage check, then you walk ahead in the line and go right through the turnstiles into the park. But they directed us over to a side, where tables were set up. I didn't notice anything different, but they did check the bags a little more carefully. It flowed smoothly, and it didn't create a sense of havoc or stress. We still had the usual with us too, a bottle of water and the mist fans. They didn't ask to check them or anything. I don't think Disney was really affected by these threats.

DLR has always used the table style of checking bags. They're restrictions never seem restrictive though. I'm not even sure what they look for, maybe glass?

EDIT - I shouldn't say always I suppose! I mean over the past couple years, maybe it began 2 or 3 ago. Pff, always, what was I thinking :guilty:

Yeh, so did all 4 of the WDW parks when I was there in May '05. Before the turnstiles there were sets of high tables where security CMs were standing, and after clearing there we walked forward to the turnstiles. This is clearly nothing new.
