Park Reservations with AP

Are reservations any different with APs? We are here now for a week. Reserved our inital 3 days. It still will not let us book a 4th day at another park it says we are maxed out. But also concerning because just looking at the calendar it looks like everything is booked. Thanks.

Are you staying on-property or off? If you're at a hotel off property, unfortunately you're only allowed to hold 3 reservations at a time as an AP and can't make another one until you've used one of those reservations.

So is there any additional availability withheld for AP members or can the parks sell out and we’re out of luck? Staying offsite.

I just checked the reservation availability for AP holders. It's showing sold out for the rest of the month in all four parks. Once you use your first day you will need to keep trying for another day. People do cancel last minute. Even though it shows sold out, I have heard of people still managing to get a reservation by clicking on the park but do one person at a time. Best of luck!!

You won't be able to book another until after the final park closes tonight. Keep checking...availability varies and the calendar isn't updated real-time. You need to actually try to add the park reservation.

After midnight, you can get another to replace the one used today.
No need to wait until after midnight. You can get one after the last park closes for the day. For instance, Epcot closes at 10:00 tonight, so you can try at 10:01 PM.

Just keep trying after the first park day closures. It's really upsetting that as passholders we have to stress over it this way, but cancellations do randomly come up. You may just need to be flexible with which park you plan to visit on which day.

Every day for the past few days, the calendar opens up all 4 parks in the afternoon for APs - it happened at 2:00 today, maybe it does that every day. I know it sucks, but at least maybe you can get to a park for the afternoon and evening.

And that’s why Disney offered to let people cancel their APs & get refunds.

I don't know about others, but I didn't have all the info about how it was going to be handled back when they were offering refunds last summer. And there was no predicting that many days would be completely unattainable. The CMs I spoke with over the summer just nonchalantly told me I could book day 4 after my first day was used. Even my first post COVID trip in December it was treated as no big deal and park reservations were wide open. So it was just a hassle that you had to think about doing it. There wasn't any worry over not getting the park you wanted on the day you wanted much less no park at all. That all seemed to change significantly this spring.

It changed because guests originally were reluctant to visit WDW (either because of concern about the virus or not wanting masks/reduced experiences) but starting in the spring felt more comfortable going. But nothing has changed and what you were told by the CM was correct--you can book another park pass after your first day is used. It just might be for a date several weeks in the future rather than immediately after the fourth day.

Same thing with swimming pool capacity--Disney said from day one there could be capacity limits at pools, but everyone seemed shocked when it actually happened in the spring when attendance picked up.

It also didn’t help when they increased capacity and added Park reservations for ticket holders and resorts but not passholders. REALLY haven’t been feeling the love for keeping my AP.

I was just on MDE and trying to adjust our resort for our 2022 vaca. A survey request popped up, so I accepted it. One of the questions was Park Pass preference: A. Book a park each day or B. Book the first day of you trip and then can enter all the parks.
I am REALLY hoping they do away with the park reservation system if enough people voice their dislike for it. When you purchase an AP, you should be able to get into the parks without constant worry.

Well but to be fair, there were plenty of other times the resort/ticket bucket was completely greyed out while APs were not. In this time, it would make sense they are allocating new capacity to the resorts because they are reopening several resorts this somewhere that were previously closed, which expands the resort population able to book tickets. No new APs are being allowed to be purchased now, which protects current APs’ from increased demand for park passes—I’d say that is a pretty good sign that APs are being treated fairly by Disney. We are all getting a little leas for our dollar than we did in 2019, not just APs.

Well I knew of the 3 day limitation before renewing APs. Never once thought that we would not be able to book beyond that. We were never told that either. We are in Orlando now and cannot go to any more parks. We have tried booking one person at a time, all hours of the day, etc. no luck yet. CM did not have any solutions either other than keep trying. We are not sour about it. Enjoying some more pool time. It would have been nice to have been warned verbally. Also family staying with us were able to book park reservations same day around noon for new ticket purchase. APs stayed blocked. It seems Disney welcomes the immediate cash this way.

For people with APs, what would be a fair number of days to reserve at one time? I'm not a passholder, but without limits I could see this really being abused. I mean, why not reserve every possible day, just in case?

Excluding if there are Blackout dates, APs paid for ability to enter a park(s) anytime they want. If they wanted to book every day (if this was available) they are entitled to do so. I definitely think that AP's should be able to reserve more than 3 days at a time.

I feel like if they are going to sell out a park, they should reserve additional space for APs. In our experience, it was the exact opposite. If buying a new ticket you could book a reservation. Four family members did this yesterday. The four of us with APs could not.

Also one observation from the parks... There is a ton of closed and roped off space that would add immediate capacity to the parks. For example, the splash station in MK by barnstormer. The play area in Dinoland at AK. Both remain closed. All the closed restaurants and tables. Bring back shows and nighttime entertainment. This has nothing to do with distancing, covid. It has to be staffing. Take a ride like Buzz lightyear or Toy Story Mania. Each and every rider is touching the gun hour after hour all day. How can this be okay but an outdoor play area in Dinoland not be okay? Im not ranting. We love Disney. Just my observation from the past few days. There is a lot more room for folks to spread out if they would just open everything back up.
