I was checking park reservations availability for hotel guests this morning and saw that both parks were open for all dates from today onward, except for this Friday, October 15 (when only Disneyland Park is available), and Saturday, October 16 (when neither park is available). Is this just a normal thing and the hotel bucket does run out? Or is there something else going on with those 2 dates?

For comparison's sake, here's what shows as available for 1 Park Per day Tickets:

Do you already have a reservation for Saturday? I do, so I can't tell if it's really blocked for everyone. I'm also having an, 'Oh no!" moment thinking about how busy it's going to be. Since I am flying my daughter in for this weekend, I can't cancel it.

If you have a reservation for that day it will show up for you as no reservations available. That said, reservations are booked up for non hotel guest on Friday and Saturday with a few opening up here and there

Really? Even if you are only looking at the calendar and not trying to actively book? I have (non-hotel) park reservations 10/16 and 10/22. I see 10/16 blocked out but 10/22 open when looking at the calendar.

I’m feeling pretty nervous about 10/16 now…oh well, we will make the best of it!

only if you’re trying to book.

Yea, unfortunately October through the New Year is always pretty busy on weekends.

The whole month of October is back to showing availability for hotel guests.

We actually booked the DLH for October 27, and two interesting notes:
1. The booking agent asked several times if we "already had theme park reservations" or if we "needed help with that." I certainly get the impression that someone booking a Disney resort property will have reservations found for them, whether the "bucket" we're looking at online gives that impression or not.
2. Once I linked the hotel reservation to my account, I immediately had access to book any remaining day in October. (I didn't check November to see how far that extended.) Theoretically, since we have Magic Keys, we could now be going anytime we wanted since even same-day bookings are open to us as "hotel guests." It's an interesting loophole. (We booked October 20 with our October 27 hotel reservation, for the record, but we already had any other days we know we want to go in October booked.)

I would think it’s logical that onsite hotel guests would have access to any reservations available. Disney is a business so they would cater a little more to guests that are staying with them. It’s the same for dining reservations. The Hotel has been able to reserve or cancel reservations for me on the same day when I was unable to do it through the system. That being said, I hated the whole reservation system and park hopping after 1:00 on our most recent trip. It didn’t appear to help with overcrowding.

Can you provide a link to the hotel bucket/calendar?

My husband and I have our early Dec. reservations through our Magic Key, but we need to shift 1 day around to start at DCA. The day has already sold out on the regular MK calendar though, and since we'll be staying at the Grand for our honeymoon (YAHOO!!!), maybe I can use a different link to change the 1 desired day since we'll be staying on site.

Easiest way for me is to go to Disneyland.com -> My Disneyland -> My Hotel Reservations -> Add your reservation, then you can pull up the reservation bucket and change away. On the app, go to manage reservations, then add the hotel reservation there and you can do it in there, but easier for me on my laptop.

Thank you! Right now I'm at the max 4 days of reservations (I have the Enchant key) I'm a bit nervous to cancel Disneyland for Friday 12/10 since it's sold out under the Magic Key bucket. Then, I would need to re-book it for DCA under our hotel bucket I guess. All of this effort, just because I want to have Lamplight Lounge brunch Friday morning!! Ay ay ay, the things we do for our dining reservations.

Oh, that's scary, all right! I totally get it because it's a Friday! However, if it's not your first day, you can always access it AFTER YOU'VE GONE IN THE FIRST TIME, which immediately frees you up to make another reservation through the hotel bucket. The advantage, of course, is that there seem to be loads of hotel bucket reservations. I do hope this works for you!

Oh, that's a good idea to wait until we arrive! My husband is planning to call Disney at 7am over the weekend to confirm this plan before we make any changes, so we'll see what they say. :)

I know this has already been pointed out and discussed (by me more than once, ha ha), but as someone going tomorrow I am so curious why tomorrow is THE ONLY DAY IN ALL OF OCTOBER not available to hotel guests? Glitch? Or is it going to be the most crowded day yet? Understaffed that day? Some kind of weird thing going on that day? I am so perplexed.

I have an update for anyone who was curious about our situation. For reference, we have Enchant magic keys, and we want to switch our 12/7 Disneyland reservation to start at DCA. This day appears wide open on the hotel calendar. Since we are staying at the Grand California, we wanted to see if we could cancel our 12/7 DL and make a new one to start at DCA.

The answer is NO. Our primary affiliation- and therefore calendar bucket- is as Magic Keys. We default to the Magic Key calendar. So if we were to cancel 12/7, we would not able to rebook since the corresponding MK calendar is sold out on that day. I found this disappointing of course. We are spending over $600/night (with promo code!) for a 4-night honeymoon at the Grand, and while it's a beautiful hotel, there aren't as many perks to it- no in-room dining, no early park entry, no daily cleaning, no package delivery from the parks (We buy a lot of souvenirs so this sucks!), etc etc. The list goes on and on. We'll love every minute of it but I think the price should be dropped to reflect the decrease in services and perks.
