Brief report from my visit to DL yesterday. As always, I made it to the park gates at around 7:15. Met some friends there and we went to the right of the hub for rope drop, as I/we usually do. Met a nice young woman there from Chicago (my home town). It was only her second time ever at DL! Me and another guest gave her some tips.
Crowds were typical for this time of year. Various friends were at the park earlier last week and told me that they were low. I’d hoped that would continue through the weekend but I didn’t get the full benefit of that. Still.
Did Mr. Toad, Dumbo and Snow White and then moved on to Buzz. As many of you know, we used to always RD PP but that’s something we rarely do anymore since the outbreak of early entry ;-).
Did reasonably well on Buzz but couldn’t break 2M. I was really annoyed after my third ride when I thought I’d done it and stopped shooting (because if you exceed about 2,097,000, your score resets). It turns out that I’d lost count of my score and only had 1,960,000. Disappointing but, as I always remind myself, any DL complaints are First-World, one-percenter problems ;-).
Later I met a nice young couple visiting from Austria. I told them that I’ve been there and we had a nice conversation. I gave them some suggestions for the rest of their visit. What was funny was that the girl, who was in her early 20s and was very bright and sweet, turned out to be a prison guard! I was surprised and told her that I never would have guessed that.
A little later I also overheard a group of kids (probably about 16) talking about which attractions to hit next. I asked if they knew about the single-rider lines, which they didn’t. They seemed pleased for the help. I always love helping the uninitiated, at DL and anywhere else.
I hadn’t slept well for the past few nights so I left the park at around 2:00. I’ll be back next Sunday, of course.

Some park pics. Note the two from the point of the Fantasmic fire. Little evidence of it yesterday. I wondered if I’d smell anything but i didn’t. I did spot a few firefighters on the island and later walking through the park. The final "Uneven payment ahead" pic is merely random... since we're allowed to include ten and I only had nine
