Park Pet Peeves

Numbers 1 through 10 are parents who don't watch their children.
Number 11 is people who crowd in front of you to take a picture, without bothering to look around them and see that you're already trying to take a picture there.

Oh here is a big pet peeve of mine that I didn't mention earlier and they relate to employees of Disney, not guests..

1) We enter a big auditorium for a show or performance and they tell guests to move all the way down to the end...

Umm sorry folks, first ones in get the best seats. That's the way it works.. My family and I always pick our row and then plop 3 seats right in the middle.
I hope you are kidding about being angry when the CMs are telling you to move all the way down the row! That is common sense to move all the way down and incredibly rude to those people walking after you. I'd say that is a huge pet peeve of mine...if you want to sit in the middle, figure out how to place yourselves so you can do that without being a nuissance.

Basically it all boils down to the Golden Rule. Take a few seconds to think about other people as well as about yourself. It's not that hard, and it makes the World a better place for everybody, including yourself.

saw this at my brothers-in-law's hockey tournament over the weekend...couldn't resist sharing it here...

not trying to stir any pots, just thought it was funny/relevant :upsidedow

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

surely there must be a reason why they would post that....:rolleyes1

1)
2)ECV (not that I have a problem with those that use) but not sitting in there ECV on the bus and take another bus space for a pregnant woman, elderly person, or child.
Some ECVs are not safe to ride in on a bus. They are unstable and will tip over. That is why people are asked to sit in a regular seat if they can transfer

I have to say when we were at MK in December, the wheelchair line was ridiculous on Small World. I guess there are only a few boats that can handle them so it takes a while.
I believe there are only 2 wheelchair accessible boats and only one wheelchair can go on each one.

Just to clarify the ecv comment- that isn't by choice. most of the bus drivers will not allow a preson to sit in the ecv. some will but most won't, they make them get out and use a seat. don't ask me why, just telling you it is the bus drivers not the ecv drivers.
The reason is because many of the ECVs are top heavy and will tip, unlike manual wheelchairs which can be tied down higher on the frame and are much more stable.

Some of my pet peeves:
1. people who insist on squeezing in front of my wheelchair and the stage at shows. Not only am I lower because of the wheelchair but I am also super short and I end up looking at their butt.

2. people who decide to leave a show before it is done and walk between the sign language interpreters and the guests. If you really have to then don't stand there and wait for the right moment. There isn't one. Walk quickly past and get out of the way. Better yet walk to the back of the show and exit from there.

3. people who use my wheelchair to prop their kid or themselves up at parades or shows. Don't touch my wheelchair! It is an extension of my space and it hurts (physically)other

4. people who walk so close to the side of my wheelchair that I am fearful of hitting their feet. Leave some space. If you are that close that I have to worry about running over your foot you can also hit my controller or hand and cause an accident.

5. people who change their baby's diaper on tables, benches or chairs. There are bathrooms with changing tables close by most every part of the parks as well as baby centers. Use them. With my grandson last trip we could only use the baby centers because even standing I am too short to safely use the changing tables in the bathrooms. I still never changed him anywhere except in an appropriate area for changing.

6. others in wheelchairs who get to the parade viewing area late and expect everyone to move over so they can sit there as well. If it is full, it is full. Sorry.

7. ADR's We don't plan 6 months out. I have no clue to my schedule until I get the interpreter schedule a week prior to the time I am going. I'd like a nice sitdown meal occasionally but rarely can do it.

8. but my biggest pet peeve is that I can't go as often as I would like.

I was actually thinking about posting exactly this peeve. Thanks for doing it for me! I can understand a small child who doesn't know any better trying to climb on it. But to have a mother actually try to prop her child on the arm of my chair and then smile sweetly and ask" you don't mind do you?" Heck yes I mind lady. How would you like a total stranger come up to you and lean all over you? Rude or what?

We ran into a worse situation one night before Fantasmic. We had been placed in a Handicap spot in the back row near the center. DH was seated on a bench beside my chair. Shortly before showtime it was SRO in the theatre when this really big guy comes up and stands behind my chair. Next thing I know he's leaning against the back of the chair, with his hands on the handlebars. I turned and asked him to remove his hands and stand back. He looked at me, sneered and replied "What's your problem-I'm not hurting anything?" At this point I realized he was drunk, and put my hand on DH's arm to keep him from standing up and confronting him. Fortunately at that point a CM and another man came up to the man and removed him. It was scary.

All I'm saying is that as the PP stated, a person's wheelchair is an extention of themself. Please respect this and maintain the same distance from it as you would any other person. And teach your children to do the same.

where are people needing to use their feet to flush?? every toilet i saw this weekend at disney was an auto flush... i wanted to foot flush but i couldnt

I dont think a lot of ppl realise its auto flush now at disney. I think they were speaking in general terms in other bathroom stalls, not just in disney parks. Kinda funny thou, we're arguing about toilet flushing, but all along its auto flush toilets. LMAO!

My biggest pet peeve is people flushing toilets with their feet. It makes it really nasty for normal people like me who flush with our mouths.

I forgot one other. The smell of turkey legs, do they have to make them smell so good? Come on now!!!!!!!!!! I don't care if I've just eaten lunch, the smell of those things just makes me want to gobble one up. The sad thing is I've never had one, always wanted one just never have had the room for one.

Pun intended? :rotfl:

Lol!

Honestly, those turkey legs look pretty nasty. Is it just me? I wanna gag everytime I look at one. I guess i shouldnt knock it til i try it. But im not a big turkey fan.

I, myself, love turkey, but have never gotten a turkey leg at Disney. I am really grossed out by people walking around gnawing on those things. If I ever were to get one I would probably find a table somewhere and try to get at least a fork to pull it apart to eat it. Just don't like to see people walking !around shoving those things in their face!

On another note, I am also a foot flusher. My Mom taught me to do that. I still remember to this day when a teacher in grade school accused me of kicking the toilet. Had to get my Mom to come in to explain. If someone doesn't like that I do this because their hand will get dirty, then THEY can use paper to protect THEIR hand. I am going to continue to foot flush. The thought of leaning over the bowl to flush their way is disgusting to me. Some of those toilets really spray when they flush. ( I think some of the sprinkle people see on the seats might be overspray from the flush, but if it's yellow, NOT!)

That made me LOL.

Regarding the turkey legs, I don't have a problem with folks walking around eating them. It would probably be a little more "normal" to sit and eat one, but I think it's great that people can kick back and have one while walking if they want. By the way, I've always wanted to try one of them but have always been too full to try it. (free dining has filled me up the last two years). Maybe this will be the year! I'll probably share it with the rest of the family. Those things are huge.

Aw this thread has totally cheered me up today! :)
 Its pretty entertaining isnt it?

Ha ha, yes some toilets are pretty powerful with the spray back. NASTY! No way in heck im hovering my face over the bowl.

General common courtesy would go a long way to help all these problems.

For my Feb 2011 I was on crutches and had to use an ECV. I tried very hard not to run anyone over but many times people walked right in front of me and they do not stop quickly. It was very shocking to me at the amount of dirty looks I was given - Clearly with a hip to ankle knee brace and crutches I was in need of transportation. You never know what someone is dealing with. There are several things like Arthrisits or Fibromyalgia that you can "see" but would make it very hard for someone to walk disney. With that being said, I did see people that seemed to be taking advantage of the perks. If they were, I just smile and say --- Karma!

CM's at theme dining that do not play the part (i.e. 50's Prime time), isnt that part of the fun of it all??

Line cutting, pushing at parades and fireworks, people on buses that do not let pregnant, elderly or children sit, and the personal space invaders are things that drive me nuts, but I would never let it ruin my vacation! These are things that happen everywhere in the world

I'm just thinking that even as dirty as my shoe is, it's probably cleaner than a hand that's been peed on. I too am a foot flusher. And if the people after me wash their hands like they should, why does it matter?

My only pet peeves at WDW are the sight of those turkey legs and parents who don't do anything to control their children. Kids having a hard time don't bother me in the least......as long as parents are attempting to manage the situation and have courtesy for those around them.

If it doesn't matter, and you wash your hands, why not use your hands to push down on the HANDle to flush? Am I the only one who looks to see where the handle is before I sit down, and then turn my face away from the bowl when I flush? Maybe your foot is cleaner the first time you flush, but after one flush when it gets the spray on it and you don't wash your foot, it is no longer cleaner.

It doesn't really bother me either way, I just don't get the argument that people's feet are somehow cleaner. Or that the handle is icky. If you do indeed wash right away then it shouldn't matter.
