Park passes for the Media?

When I spoke with a PR person yesterday on the phone it was known to her that our trip was a personal vacation because I did not want to cheat the system. She made it perfectly clear that this trip did not have to do anything with business that in deed it was a perk.

Excellent! It seems their policy is much more lenient than others. Six Flags was actually the most stringent of the theme parks from what my coworkers said.

But this really isn't about "what is Disney's policy." It's about journalism ethics. Disney offers these "perks" in the hopes of favorable coverage. That's the game. But journalists need to avoid conflicts of interest, real or perceived. That means refusing gifts, favors, fees, free travel and special treatment for themselves, their friends and their families.

Couldn't have said it any better. There's nothing wrong with Disney offering these perks. That's good business. But for a journalist to take them? Not so much. I -- and, it appears, other journalists on this board -- couldn't live with myself if I accepted this perk.

Just wait until Dan Snyder (owner of the Washington Redskins) finishes his purchase of Six Flags. THEN you'll see how stringent and expensive things can get. :)

Oh please people, stop it!!! The OP called her husband's place of buisness, explained what the trip is and was told they could have the tickets (certain media people, obviously her husband is one of these certain people). Disney gave the company the tickets, I'm sure explaining the appropriateness of using them and the empolyer is passing it on to their employees.
Stop judging and lecturing her about how unethical it all is. Certain people get certain freebies and or discounts and that's just life....deal with it and stop judging people. What ever happened to just answering people's questions? Save your ethical debates for someone who asks for them. This board is really getting out of hand.

The original poster's question has been asked and answered. This is quickly turning into a debate.

Since this isn't a debate board, I'm closing it. :)

I am part of the media and I know how Disney's park pass policy works. Universal is much more lenient. But good luck to you. :)
