Park passes and dying (as in death...)

OK - this may be a morbid question but I can't find the answer anywhere so I thought I'd ask here before actually calling Disney. We're planning our May 08 trip and we all know, the more days you get, the better the price per day. We never park hop so that's not an option for us, but we figured we'd do an 8 day pass with no expiration. However, one member of our party is in his mid 70's and said "yup, get me an 8 day" so he'd have days left over from this trip for our next trip which will be 3-5 years from now. I know tickets are not transferrable, and I know 70's is 'young' by today's standards, but what if? Would we be able to transfer his unused days to my mom if he wasn't with us for our next trip?
Told you it was a morbid question but one we are curious about and couldn't find an answer to!

Shouldn't be a problem... for a multitude of reasons.

I don't know the answer to your question but I'm interested in the replies. My mom went on her first Disney trip in 2005 at the age of 82. Bought everyone 10 day non-expiring except her. She is going for her third trip in April at age 85. She would just be finishing up her 10-day ticket if I had bought it!

I know that if I were at a Guest Relations Office I would take care of it. I might need a Manager's Override to my system, but I know that it would be done.

You all seem pretty sure that it is a given that they will transfer a ticket after a death. I'm not altogether sure that they will.

For one thing, why should they? It was purchased for someone else and regardless of their age (it could be 20) anyone could pass away. Another is that when you use the "my way" tickets they are significantly discounted for the number of days. It might have been almost the same price for an 8 day as it is for a 4.

I think I would check carefully before I assumed that Disney cares that your friend planned too far in advance. There nice people, but, it would be very hard to prove that the person in question is indeed dead.

My gut feeling is that if you present the ticket and the death certificate at Guest Relations, remaining days on the ticket will be transferred to the beneficiary just like any other asset. Season tickets for football games (I'm thinking specifically of Packer tickets in Green Bay) are transferrable to beneficiaries, as are season tickets for the opera or symphony (at least, they are at Kennedy Center). I don't know why the same wouldn't be true of Disney tickets. I really can't see Disney saying, "Oh well ... you lose ... your guy is dead and we get extra money."

I honestly have no idea if they'll transfer tickets in this case. If they did it would be out of sympathy, I'm sure non-transferable means non-transferable.

BUT, I have heard reports that if you buy tickets together (in one transaction) all the biometrics are stored together and anyone in that group can switch tickets, and the turnstiles won't care.

Certainly hope that it doesn't come to any of this.

Well I found the answer- right from Disney Ticketing (I called them). The answer- with a death certificate the unused days would be transferrable. I guess they have a policy for everything!

Though I hope you won't ever have to use the policy.
