park passes and DVC discounts

My daughter is taking 5 friends with her and us in June 2002 and we are at BW for 9 days. We have AP for the 3 of us but the 5 friends will need passes. We would have them invest in AP's but we are not sure they will be going back in the next year and actually the UMP includes the water parks, PI etc which I'm sure they will use being teenages.
I have checked the prices on this site under the UMP passes 2001 and noticed that the 9 day UMP/LOS pass is $ 391.16 which includes the 6 % sales tax. Is there an additional 10% DVC discount off this price or is this the discounted DVC price as listed. We do realize that the 2002 prices will be higher but this will give us somewhat of a ball park idea on the prices.

Ed, you would deduct the 10% from the $393.16 (actually- it would be from the UMP without the tax and the tax would be added back- amounting to more than 10% total in this case!)

At 9 days, the UMP, with the DVC discount, is a better deal than an AP- since it does include admission to PI, DQ and all water parks. If any of them would be going back within a year- the AP would still offer a better value due to the extra days of admission.

We did this same thing with our DD and her DH this past year and it was a great bargain.

Hi guys since your up on this what would you think is my best deal I'll be at okw for 14 days with 2 adults and 3 kids, I am thinking of buying premium annual passes and using a disney club discount. Also thinking I can buy the tickets at a disney store in a no sales tax state to save a little more. Is there a better deal for me? As you may have guessed I want to be able to go about anywhere at any time in this 14 day period.

If you will be going into the parks each of the 14 days AND using the water parks and PI, the PAP will likely be the best deal for you. If you will be returning to WDW within the next 12 months, the PAP will definitely be the way to go- just make sure you will actually use the "extras" in the PAP- as it is a lot more $$ than the AP.

As to the question on the UMP (LOS), be aware that you might be able to go even cheaper than you are anticipating. You say you will there 9 days which I assume includes arrival and departure day. If you don't want the LOS for arrival or departure day, the hotel will let you leave one of those off and thus you can pay for an 8 rather than 9 day LOS.

As to the question on the Premium Annual Pass, whether you should get that or the significantly cheaper Annual Pass (theme park entries only) depends on how much you actually intend to use the secondary parks--waterparks, Disney Quest, Pleasure Island. You should go to the ticket price section of this site and do some price comparisons. Most often, depending on which things you actually intend to hit, you will find that the total cost of an Annual Pass plus 3 or 4 single day entry tickets for the secondary parks equals an amount that is less than the PAP price. Also note that having an AP or a DVC card currently gets you a discount off a single day ticket to Disney Quest.

I believe the sales tax on tickets is equal to Florida's tax rate and can not be avoided by trying to find a Disney store in a state that does not collect sales tax.

Correct me if I'm wrong.
