Park Pass (with water park option) Question

We bought the 4 Day Park passes with water options for our June trip.

My question is: Can I go to a water park first or do we have to activate the passes at one of the theme parks first?

We would like to go to Typhoon Lagoon our first day and then hit one of the parks that evening.
