This is probably a silly question, but in reading books etc I just cant find a proper answer.

The day I visit the park its open (8am EMH) 10am-7pm, Question is when does the park actually open and close? I know main street opens prior to the rest of the park, does MS open at 10 and we wait for the ropedrop? does the park open at 8 for everyone and only EMH visitors get past the ropes? Equally with closing, is 7 the time the doors close, or the time rides start to close down, or the time everyone has to be out by? what are the procedures for opening and closing and the real times

if you have access to EMH, you get in through the turnstiles at 8am. If you don't have access to EMH, you will usually get through the turnstiles at around 9.30am, and you will have access to Main St Usa, the shops and cafes etc there.

At 10am its ropedrop, and from that time, if you don't have access to EMH, you can roam the whole park and go on any rides etc.

If the parks official closing time is 7pm, that means if you are in a ride queue at 7pm, you will be allowed to ride that ride. The shops etc on Main St are usually open for around half an hour to allow last minute purchases etc, and from around 7.30pm guests are encouraged to leave by the CMs.

Further from that, am I able to purchase park tickets as soon as the park opens at 8am? to then return at 10? also would it be possible to Buy a dream pass at 8am and immediately use it for EMH?

How about at the Studios? Do they open the turnstiles at the scheduled opening time, or do they allow you in and hold you inside the park?

Guest Services is certainly open from 8am, so yes, theoretically you could buy either a park ticket or a Dream Pass at that time.

However, to get to Guest Services you have to pass the CMs at the EMH entry to the park, and they need to see your Dream Pass or your onsite hotel ID to allow you access to EMH. So I don't know if this would work - I guess you'd have to ask the CM at that point.

we've always got into the Studios park through the turnstiles at around 9.30am. Sometimes the rides are up and running and you can ride them, sometimes they don't let you on them until 10am. Definitely worth going early though :).

I am all new to DLP so forgive for for asking a probably silly question........
but what is a Dream Pass? Is it that special fast pass that you can buy/get at the Hotel NY?

no, its an annual pass ticket, its only really worth buying for EMH if you're not staying at an onsite hotel, and you're intending visiting DLP for more than 3 days in a year.
