I was wondering if anyone has used park n fly at dca or any other airport for that matter? I saw on Airtran's website that they have a park and fly near Reagan Airport and the price to park for a week is 40.00 cheaper than to park at the economy lot at the airport. We live over an hour away, so we can't use metro or taxi. Since we have 5 people going, we also don't have anyone to take us to the airport. I just trying to get a feel for what peoples experiences have been w/this and if it's worth it. Also, how long in advance do I need to make a reservation? We leave on Saturday. TIA!

We always use a park & fly service at BWI - I think it's great. It costs less, they come to your car with the shuttle bus and pick up all your stuff, and drop you off in front of your airline area. We always use that and never park at the airport itself.

I have never made a reservation - it is not necessary at BWI - they have 2 very large lots.

I used to use a similar lot in Buffalo and also never made a reservation; unless Reagan is different because it's closer to the city (therefore less parking maybe), reservations are not normally needed.

I think they require a reservation b/c you are parking at a hotel, not an actual lot owned by them. Not sure what to do.

I think you're taking a lot of risk for a small savings. Given that you're leaving DCA on a Saturday, you might find that the hotel only runs the airport shuttle hourly on weekends....or the driver is out sick. So you might end up having to cab it from the hotel to the airport. Same thing on your return. Whereas the shuttles to the official parking lots are constantly circulating.

The bottom line is private Park-n-Fly lots are a good option at many airports, but not DCA (or IAD): there aren't any true Park-n-fly, just hotels that offer it on a limited basis.

Ditto.

When i looked into it for my flight back in march, I discovered that since I had a late flight back, most of the shuttles would've quit running by that time requiring a cab back to the lot. The 1 which had a later shuttle that would've still been running when my flight arrived, There was a chance would've quit for the night if my flight was delayed for any reason.

It was almost as bad in the AM since I had an early flight out. I wasn't sure i'd have the time to get the first shuttle to the airport and have time to check my bags and get thru security before my flight finished boarding.
