Park Hopper upgrade to A/P

I just wanted to post this in case others might be interested in doing the same thing...

I had made A/P ressies to get the great rate available earlier this summer, and asked if I could upgrade the park hopper I had partially used in March. The CM on the phone said I could at that time, but when I went to the MK guest services I was told I couldn't upgrade my park hopper because it has to be done within a week of first activating the PH. HOWEVER, the CM then offered to take the value of the unused 2 days and apply it as a credit toward the price of an Annual Pass. I guess if you upgrade your PH you would get the full credit of all days, whether used or not which is why you would have to do it within the 7 day time frame. Still I thought the credit for the 2 unused days was fair enough ! If you have unused PH's it's something to think about! And now I have a great excuse for going back to the World a few more times in the next year

I was JUST trying to remember this!

I had given information to a DISer about it, and had stated that an upgrade could be done after the 7 day window - just that you would get a prorated credit on the pass.

I was then told exactly what you were told.

I guess in Disney-speak, there's a difference between upgrading and crediting!

We had a similar issue 'upgrading' our Park Hopper passes to Annual Passes last fall.

Our family had purchased some 4 day park hoppers from one of the discount huts on the turnpike coming up from West Palm Beach (you know... the 99 billboards you pass coming up). When we went to the service desk, they didn't want to upgrade them at first because we had purchased them through a broker and we were told that these were not exchangeable.

A second cast member came over (maybe a manager) and fixed us up... they allowed us to apply the difference towards the AP's.

Make sure you ask for someone else if you have any trouble. They can probably take care of you.
