Park Hopper tickets with room

I wasn't sure where to post this, but since it *kinda* relates to the resorts I figured here was as good as any a place.

Are PH tickets date oriented? I got a 5 day in conjunction with our stay at AKL starting Jan 27. However, we arrive in Orlando at the POP on Jan 26, and since we originally were going to arrive well after the parks closed, I didn't get any tickets with that night's lodging. Now that we'll probably be driving (and arriving earlier) I'd like to be able to use one of the PH days the day we arrive at POP. Is that possible? I know that you can purchase "no expiration" for keeping them for later use, but do they have a start date? I'd hate to have to add on a 1-day PH to POP, because they're so expensive that way.

I guess we could always do DTD the first day, but I know I'm going to be itching to hit MK or Epcot that first night.

You can't use your tickets until you check into AKL (since the tix are attached to that reservation). You could attach the tickets to your POP reservation to start using them as soon as you arrive; they are good for 14 days from first use, so will cover your AKL stay, too. Then book AKL as room-only. For the difference in cost, you may want to change them to 6 day tix, too, since you'll be there a day earlier.
