Park Hopper Rumor

I can't even begin to imagine any reason at all why they would do away with that. No benefit to Disney at all that I can think of - just a loss of a revenue stream.

I think this definitely belongs on the rumors board.

There is a rumor board? :confused3 I actually looked for one before posting, but I couldn't find it. If the mod wants to move me... that's fine. :thumbsup2

But isn't that how they were before introducing the current modular MYW ticket structure (all length of stay I think and all included park hopping). They specifically went to the MYW tickets structure where guests can pick & choose the options they want, so I don't see them going back to the previous method.

But yes, you're right - only if they increased all ticket prices to include hopping could I see it making any sense for Disney.

When was MYW created?

Its funny, even though I visited twice in the 70's once in the mid 80's and once in the 90's, once in 2000 and then lots of times since 2005.... I have no memory of the A,B,C, D and E tickets nor of any other kind of ticket. I have no idea. I remember getting hand stamps as late as 2000. For our 1990 and 2000 trips, we had CM guest passes, which were incidentally single day hoppers at the time. Don't know what they are now. We're currently AP. IMHO I think Disney should make all tickets hoppers, this has to be a money maker even if its included because people shop as they go and no ticket should ever expire.

I'm surprised this is still on the Theme Park Board and not moved to the Rumor Board.

Next year to me is 2011, which of course has pricing for PH.

There was a survey thread about hopping a month or two ago and the majority was hopping.

Disney offers many ticket discounts at DL. But they are always pushing hoppers there.

When was MYW created?

Fuzzy memory, but I would say around 2005, maybe mid-2004 - I think it was the same time they implemented the finger scanners. We moved to Florida in 2004, and went so many times in the next few years, it all sort of blends together.

I do remember going in the 70s though and having the A-E tickets - I was a kid. I went in 1996 and 2001 as well but have no recollection at all what the tickets were like!

I do not think anyone has mentioned this..and it does kinda sound like maybe something Disney would do...eliminate the park hopper option...and now you want to go to MK and Epcot in the same day? Sure, No problem, will just cost you two days worth of tickets...Double Disney Pleasure

:eek::eek::headache::headache::mad::mad:

I can't see how they could eliminate it in a short period of time.I know that there are lots of us who have tickets with the hoppiing option in hand now.We paid extra for it so I think they would have to honor it.However with recent trends at disney nothing surprises me!

Well, like I said.. I tried to find a rumor board before I posted, but couldn't find it, so I posted here and figured a mod would move it if necessary.

what is the rumor board listed under?

Well, I heard from the mailman's next door neighbor's 2nd cousin 5th removed's ex mother in law's high school sweatheart's first babysitter's 2nd grade teacher's old dead cat that one day it will be free to get into WDW...:rotfl2:

Come on...who can possibly know this???

When was MYW created?

.
We went in 2004 and bought 6 day tickets and they automatically had the hopper and 6 days was the longest ticket. In 2006, we had myw.

All tickets at DL except single day are automaically hoppers.

This is a great point. I have a hopper with 3 days left, and Disney will need to honor it. Would they really give me 6 or 9 single day tickets so I can still hop using single park tickets?

At the most remotest of possibilities, they may tweak it a little bit. But do away with it. Not in a million years.

Yes, perhaps change the tickets to include hopping, but there is no logical reason to not allow people to park hop.

Hopping keeps people in the parks longer-- so they can spend more money. If I just went to AK and left when it closed at 5, I would be done spending money for the day. But if I hop over to MK and stay until 2am that's an extra 9 hours I'm in a park potentially spending money on food and merchandise. :teacher:

We own 4 adult 10 day park hopper tickets - unused - we thought we would return in 2009 and then in 2010 and now possiibly 2011. We still need to save money for food at WDW and then we can pay for our whole trip.

Depending on the economy and jobs - we may not be able to return to WDW till 2012 or maybe even 2013. :sad2:

I hope our 10 day park hopper tickets are still honored at WDW.

Boy that 100 Acre Wood must be far from Disney. May I suggest you take advantage of the free dining offer. You wouldn't have to save up money for food.. cause it'd be free.... so you can go now!!! yeah !!:wizard:

Ahh! A Disney mathematician. The answer is always $$$$$. :thumbsup2

I can see another reason to remove Park Hopping as an option, (and automatically included in multi-day tickets).... Less headaches for the CM's and less drama.

Look at all the "Can I use 2 days off my non-hopper ticket to visit 2 parks in a day?" questions WE get, and just IMAGINE how often the CM's gotta deal with it from people who don't come here first. If park hopping was automatically included like it used to be, then I'm sure it would make the job of the gate CM's much easier as well.

(Which on the $$$$ side, could allow Disney to have fewer CMs or "dispute resolvers" working the gates. Reduced costs == more money on the bottom line)

But..... free dining isn't really free, because you have to pay rack rate for the room & buy 2 days of tickets from Disney instead of from a discounter. There go your savings.
