Park Hopper + question

We arrive on a Saturday. On Sunday we are going to HS for our 1st park visit. We have 5 day Hopper+ tickets. I have always struggled to understand the + part. The way I understand it is that we get 5 water park visits or 5 rounds of mini golf or some combo of those two that add up to 5.

What I want to know is can we go to mini golf or a water park on that Saturday before any theme park visit can we go play mini golf or go to a water park. I thought yes because we get 5 park visits and 5 others over 14 days that start on the 1st thing I do. Is that true?

You get 5 main-park days and you get 5 admissions total to the other places. Your understanding is correct. And yes you can do the + options before visiting a main park.
