Park Hopper Question

So right now I have tickets without the park hopper option. Can I add the option once I'm at the park? We'd probably only use the hopper on one or two days (of a 6 day park ticket) so I'm thinking of saving the hopper day for the last two days if I can add them at the park. Would I be charged for a 6 day park hopper or just for the 2? Sorry I'm just confused about this!

TIA!

Wow, that's a good question! I've only used the full trip worth of Park Hoppers, so I'm not quite sure. I assume that you have to apply it to the whole trip, but I'm sure if the answer can't be found here, the Fairy Godmothers (Disney Chat) could help you out. I know this is a very useful reply lol.

Hopper can only be added to the entire ticket. They will allow you to add it up until the last day, but it will cost the same. $73.48 for a 6-day ticket.

yes, you can add them at any time during your trip. The cost is the same for 6 days or 2 days. So if you are sure then add it at the beginning of the trip.

If you add the park hopper even for the last 2 days of the trip you still have to pay for the park hopper for the length of your base ticket. In your case six days. The good thing is that you can add it from guest services in your resort (assuming you are staying on property) or at a park. We had a base ticket on our last stay and half way through we decided to hop and we're eating dinner at Beach Club. Went to their guest services, took him 5 min and we were on our way. Have fun!

Well.. there's more that should be added to a general discussion of upgrading to Hoppers.

If (IF) a ticket already has the Water Parks Fun & More option, the cost to add the Hopper is just $26. ($27.69, with tax.)

was about to make my own thread but this seems like a good place for it...

we have 7 day MYW (with resort and a free meal) ticket with no hopper option. the frozen news has us wanting to switch to hoppers. however we bought the tickets before the price increase in February. i've been searching but i can't seem to find a clear answer on how to approach the upgrade and have them "bridge" the price for us.

i remember when buying the tickets the original upgrade was something around $250-$275 (2 adults, 2 children)

If your tickets are part of a WDW resort package, they can be price-bridged.

The calculation of the cost of price-bridging of eligible tickets is very simple.
(It doesn't matter what you first paid for the tickets.)

Subtract the CURRENT (when you are at WDW) price for a NEW ticket with the same assets of the ticket that you HAVE,
from the CURRENT (when you are at WDW) price for the NEW ticket that you WANT.

Pay that difference price for the upgrade.
(Plus tax on that difference price.)

Current ticket prices can be found HERE.

Do the upgrade outside or inside any park at Guest Relations (or at any ticket booth.)

Using a ticket first should not be necessary, but it won't hurt to use it first.

Make sure that your upgrade figures are accurate to the penny, and if the CM quotes the wrong figure, nicely ask to speak to a manager. If still no joy, nicely decline the offer and go to a different location for the upgrade.

(BTW, I have not checked your price calculations.)

AND...
:welcome: to the DISboards, Jake!

Ack! Ok I guess Disney thought of that already (sneaking in a one or two day park hopper). LOL

You're looking at this sort of "in reverse..." as though "hopping" should costs "extra" to hop "per day."

As it is now, Hopping is a one-price upgrade, and covers ALL days on the ticket.
(It makes it a "Hopper Ticket.")

The costs could be far worse if guests were charged ala' carte at, say, $45 PER DAY to hop.

It's actually much better that Disney only charges one price versus making you pay per day. It encourages more guest spending in the end when you could say be at MK during the day but have dinner at Epcot at night or where you have the ability to buy that one gift you wanted and can hop on over to from park to park to get it or where you went to another park to ride that one ride one more time or when wait times at current park are too high and now maybe you saw that one thing you just can't live without so now you have to buy it..just hop on over to another park.

It also means you can customize your touring plan based on what works for you (even including FP+ which has limited flexibility some). My plan for my trip for next Sep is to be at one park in the morning go back to resort for a bit then go to another park at night.

If they went to per day they would need to lower the price to maintain people's interest in it (let's be real Disney lowering a price lol) also you might have people who wouldn't see any point in buying hoppers at all if they had to pay per day (maybe they see it as nickel and dime or the price is too high when considering all their days).
