If I have a child's Park Hopper from 1996 with park days still on it but the child is no longer a child, how will Disney handle the ticket?

I'm assuming this is a "no expiration" ticket? If so, I believe they put those dates towards an adult ticket for that length of time. Otherwise people would buy lots of child tickets and come back and attempt to convert to adult without a charge.

The ticket will be changed to an adult ticket at no extra charge and the "child" can use the ticket. Disney does not penalize folks for growing up.

as long as the ticket is partially used anyway and you bring the 15-22 year old with you.

Right the "child" has to be present and the child's age must be appropriate.

So if the ticket is a 2004 ticket the "child" would be 13 at the oldest and 10 at the youngest now.

BradK is right for a 1996 ticket 15 at the youngest and 22 at the oldest.
