Is the park hopper needed? I am thinking about a 2 or 3 day pass to UO and IOA. It is our first time there and it will be my parents, dh, ds10, ds 8 (who love Harry Potter and roller coasters) and dd5. Our plan is pretty much my mom hangs out with dd5 and takes her on little kid rides while the rest of us ride all of the fun rides:) So do you think we will be fine with just one park per day? We are staying on site so will have Express passes and going in Oct. Thanks for any input!!

I'd get a two park ticket. Since the parks are right beside each other, it is so nice to jump back and forth between the two. That way you can do both parks both days. Trust me, with the express pass, you're going to want to ride some rides several times and with the two park pass you can do your favourites in one park and then just jump next door to do your favourites in the other.

We are serial park hoppers, LOL! I don't think we've ever stayed in just one park for the whole day.... We love the freedom of being able to decide on a whim to go ride another ride in the other park.

That being said, if you aren't spur-of-the-moment-type travelers, or you don't think you'll be bothered by limiting yourselves to one park per day, then you don't NEED the park-to-park option. It looks like it's about $6-7 extra per person, per day, for park-to-park access. For your party of six people over three days, that's roughly $100 more total. It really depends on your personal preference. There's certainly enough in each individual park to keep you busy all day long! :)

I didn't know how close they were, I am used to park hopping at Disneyland and California adventure, is it like that? I think we will get the park hoppers to be safe:). Thanks so much for the help!

Yes, it's like park hopping over at DCA and DL. Entrances are a little closer to each other at DCA/DL, than over at IoA/US; but not by much. According to Google Maps, the walk will take you an extra 3 minutes or so from one entrance to the other over at IoA/US. 1 minute from entrance to entrance over at DCA/DL. 4 minutes from entrance to entrance over at US/IoA. Unless you're like us that take a detour to Margaritaville, then it will take 30 minutes.:lmao:

Yes, treat IOA and UO just like Disneyland and CA.

We loved the park hopper when we went. We would pick a park to enter at rope drop and then usually switched to the other park after lunch.

It's a nice little walk between parks.

We spent every evening at Hogsmeade. There is not enough at the studios park to keep us there a whole day. We went there in the afternoon the day we arrived (rode ET, Simpsons, MIB and the Mummy), and went early one morning to ride Transformers, Minions, RRR, and the Mummy again.

Definitely get the park hopper. Since your sons are Harry Potter freaks, you'll be able to visit it every day of your trip!
