We are planning a trip for October, 2024 and its looking like a large group, 3 family groups, about 18 people. There will be 2-10 year olds, 2-4 year olds (or close to it) and 2-3 year olds plus parents, grandparents and a great grandparent. Also, one adult has Downs and at least one adult will be on a scooter due to some health issues. Its just the beginning of our planning and we have a TA who is knows about Disney trips.

I think some of the group are not wanting to get the Genie+ because of the expense. One family will have 3 adult tickets and 3 child tickets so it will get even more expensive.

I wondered if getting the park hopper might be a better idea. That way we could get to say MK early, do what we can there, eat lunch and then go to AK if the standby lines at MK are unmanageable.

Or if I can talk them into getting Genie+ at least for MK and at least for the ones who will be riding the most rides.

Thanks.

Personally, I would prefer Genie+ over parkhoppers. Park hopping can be a waste of time, but if you are going to take a mid-day break anyway, then the 'waste' is moot. Also, it would depend on the number of days you plan to go into the parks. If many days, then park hopping becomes less useful.

Don't get Genie+ for every day though. MK and DHS are considered the most useful for Genie+.

Genie+ is purchased by the day, each day, and not everyone has to purchase it. I would let each family decide what they want to do individually.

G+ is better for you because only those who want it can pay for it. The rest won’t be charged.

With so many little kids and older adults, I imagine park hopping would be more of a hassle than a benefit. Commiting to one park a day and using G+ at the harder parks would probably work better.

Park hoppers allow for flexibility... Genie+ is great for limiting the amount of time in lines for the most popular attractions when the parks are crowded. MK and DHS particularly are Genie+ parks on crowded days.

We always hop and love the ability to move from park to park and no, it is not a waste of time. If done strategically and well planned it will take no more than 20-25 minutes usually... much less than what most standby lines are for the attractions.

We only go once or twice a year. I will always buy genie plus. I see great value in it. But agree with others above, let each person in your group decide if they want it or not. They can decide daily if they want it or not. I bet after seeing you skip lines and them waiting they will add it day 2.
