OP, you are going to have a wonderful time! In my many trips except for some line cutting, I've always encountered friendly people. If the bus is crowded we wait for the next one. I find the bus ride is part of the vacation, just so many cute kids and wonderful people to chat with!

If you believe that, try riding public transportation down south, versus riding it in Chicago/elsewhere up north. I had to live up north for awhile and there *was* a big difference! I actually was shocked!

it's not what I believe, it's what I've experienced my whole life. using public transportation in Chicago quite often.
the "north":. I hate the weather, but I LOVE the people! so yes, I do find it a mite insulting when posters are continuously putting us down:sad2:.

moving right along......;)

I agree generally people are friendly but as a PP mentioned I find that when the buses come people don't give any thought for who was waiting at the stop before them and everyone just rushes to get on, doesnt bother me as long as there is room for everyone. Where I live though a line would form based on I know I arrived after you did but before he did....

Different cultures do not queue up - so if there were many people from those specific places were they do not follow lines or queueing, it can be more of a free-for-all. They are not being rude, it is just a cultural thing.

I consider myself pretty calm and collected considering the region I'm from, but I would have went completely Brooklyn if this happened to me. I don't even like people touching me in a friendly way that I don't know (you know those women who touch your hand or shoulder when they're telling a story). I have no idea what I would have done if this happened to me, but my boyfriend is worse than I am and is very protective. This wouldn't have ended well. This is the absolute rudest thing I've heard someone do in Disney ever, let alone on this thread.

Can you tell I'm a little fired up? People have nerve!!!

I didn't really even know how to react, I was just so surprised by what he did. At first, I thought it was one of my friends touching my shoulders, so it wasn't until he yanked me back, that I realized otherwise. It totally ruined my morning too.

Just relax, plan well and have fun. The buses run quickly and just enjoy the experience...there is nothing like it! :cool1:

I'm a regular public transportation user at home, and my impression is that 99% of the other guests at WDW are total newbs at it. The majority of them don't know to move to the back of the bus to make room for people getting on, they don't listen to the drivers, they don't wait for people get off the bus before they get on, they're impatient while wheelchair are being loaded, etc.

That said, once everybody;s loaded and going, it's great fun and everyone is friendly. I think it's just stressful for a lot of people to be in a new situation and not know what to do.

^^^ this! We were just there at the end of April. One night both my son and daughter were passed out on the bus. My husband and I were wondering how we were going to get the stroller and the two sleeping kids and our bags off the bus. Before we could even blink an eye a lovely gentleman grabbed our stroller, carried it off the bus, and unfolded it so we could lay the kids down. It was an extremely wonderful and unexpected gesture. It wasn't even his depot. He wished us a pleasant evening and got back on the bus

I know, I love New York so much, but people get reeeally stressed out and tend to take it out on anyone who even slightly annoys them.:confused3

Not trying to be a downer but I am also from NY Upstate and I really get peeved when people write things of this nature and dont explain that you are from NYC not just NY in general. We here in upstate for the most part do not conduct ourselves like they do down in the city or the Jersey area. Sure your gonna find rude people anywhere you go no matter what the area. But being from Upstate NY my DH and I have found when people ask us where we are from and we say NY we quickly add Upstate other wise we are categorized with the idea that we will swear and scream at you and mug you so you better watch out! So your gonna find rude people even in Disney but for the most part dont let them get under your skin and use your best judgement for the situation at hand.

I'm the OP and for the record I LOVE Boston! I really do! I'm from here & have live in different parts of the country & world. I decided to come back to Bos after my divorce, it's my home. We may have to fight to get on the train or you just don't get on. You might come home w/a hurt toe from it being stepped on or even in need of therapy over the horrid fight you witnessed. But we are tough people & when the going gets tough we stick together!!!!' With that said if anyone encounters us somewhere Memorial Day week, we are the nicest family! We will have spare fans and if your child is small they can go in front of my boys to watch the parade, one of my boys would be happy to sit w/yours on a ride if needed. I think families from North are tough, we don't take any nonsense but we are also wonderful, caring fun people!!!!!! :)

thank you. I am from western ny about as far from the city as you can get and still be in ny.my sister livees out there. as far as I am concerned its like a different country. I also think it should be its own state so we don,t have to pay for there problems. our taxes would be a lot less

Guys... I am from NY too, but this is waaaaaaay OT.... :offtopic:

If you go to other forums, there are threads running into numerous pages about this topic.

Geeze, I live in NYC and I don't know anyone like people describe. It's funny I don't ever negative looks or comments form others when we say where we live, but I am surelots of people have the wrong impression like some people here have. When I was on a high school trip and they found out we were from Colorado, some kids asked if we wore snowshoes to get to school lol

I won't comment on taxes and such being from Long Island, you have NO IDEA lol. Anyway, when my husband commutes to the city, it is every man/woman for himself to get a seat on the train. It's a jungle out there!! But in the dozen or so trips we've been to Disney together, he always offers his seat up to anyone who needs it more, including men holding sleeping kids. You don't have to be from the south to have manners :thumbsup2

Wow really :confused3 Lets just hide our heads in the sand and not be able to discuss specific groups of people that are the biggest offenders of park etiquette in a park etiquette thread. It's ridiculous how PC everything is nowadays! You can't even have honest discussion about real things.

Froggygal1301 I am with you and am more than happy that I'm from Louisiana where it's unheard of to yell at someone because they bump into you. I live in a larger city here so we have public transportation but you won't find the rudeness. I guess we've just been raised to be polite and helpful. Not that people from other parts of the country aren't that way ... you're just more likely to apologize to someone for bumping into them here and get a smile and a "that's alright!" back.

:thumbsup2 Agree!

It's also what I experienced, and that's why I said it ;) It's true there are nice and not so nice people everywhere. This was stated 'in general'. Have you been on public transportation in the deep south much? There is definitely a 'general' difference because I have also 'experienced' it. :goodvibes

I wish I was going when you are! You will have a great trip, and you and your boys sound like a great family! Enjoy, and try to ignore the craziness that has taken over your thread! :thumbsup2

Considering the large numbers of visitors to Disneyworld in a given day. One can hardly assume that if someone is rude, that they are from NYC. I think people have every right not to want to be pigeon holed or stereotyped.

As an aside, we have a great photo of my brother (who is a rabid Yankee fan) wearing a Yankee shirt hugging a guy in a Boston's Red Sox hat in Disney because they both agree that none of the rivalries exist in DisneyWorld.

Getting on the bus in most cases is like a running with the bulls. :( Elbows and shoulders flying everywhere.
