park dress code?

OK, I am Mrs. Modesty...but I've wondered, is there a dress code for the parks. I know that it gets incredibly hot in the summer and maybe less modest people would strip down to...a bikini...guys shirtless...a really short skirt...etc. Just wondered if there is a minimum appropriate dress code that is enforced or does everyone just use their judgement?

I'm sure that somewhere there is a written policy about dress in Disney Theme Parks, but they must have a hard time enforcing it. I've seen people dressed in almost nothing!!

A friend of mine went with us once and stripped down to a bikini top at mid-day. When we arrived at Fantasyland an attendant walked up to us and kindly told her that this was a family place and could she please put her shirt back on. Which she did.

I'm sure that most CMs have a hard time approaching people about the dress code since most people out there are easily offended and tend to bite your head off at the least little thing.

And to tell you the truth, I personally don't want to see half naked people walking in front of my 3 & 10 year old...

A dress code is enforced there more than at other parks (Six Flags, Universal). We went in August one year and didn't see many violaters at WDW, but once we went to US we were shocked at how classless people can be. I honestly can't believe their mothers taught them walking around in public in a bikini top and daisy dukes is ok! UGH!

I assumed there was a dress code. It is too bad that people can't use good judgement in places like Disney but some people will wear just about anything if they can get away with it. I hope it is inforced. It is a family park.

It always amazes me at what some people will wear and what they will allow their children to wear or not wear I figure it is all about common sense. That being said you will see some out there types of clothes. Sometimes you just have to laugh. I always think that it is funny to see a mom trying to look like a teenager. I figure that is never going to happen not since gravity has happened after three kids.

I guess we fall into that classless category. If it's 95 degrees with 90% humidity I wear a tank or sleeveless shirt. I've seen on many other threads that offends some people. My wife also wears a bikini top and shorts when it's really hot. And we have 2 kids and gravity hasn't done a thing to her!

If this offends some people, sorry, but comfort comes first.

One of my close friends just got back from WDW. Her sister-in-law wore capri's and a bikini top to MK one morning and was told at the entrance that she would have to cover up. She went back to the car and put on a t-shirt and then took off the shirt when she got into the park. She is 30 years old and the whole thing just makes me cringe. Disney has the right to set a standard of dress and KNOWINGLY breaking that code seems very Jr. High to me. All this was done in front of her children (ages 6, 9 and 11). Personally I don't have an issue with bikini-tops but if it is the "rule", deliberately breaking it in front of your children is just so sad.

There definitely is a "shirts on" policy for everyone. I've seen numerous times of guys being asked to put their shirts back on. I've also seen a lot of bikini tops as well. I didn't realize this was a no-no.

I've seen non-bikini wearing men ( ) and women who are alot more offensive to me than someone wearing a bathing suit top (the 44DD with no bra and a worn thin t-shirt on). But it's really none of my business what you or anyone else wears.

Hey, I'm no prude (just read my trip report ) but there is a time and place for certain outfits and theme parks are not bikini appropriate.

But it's really none of my business what you or anyone else wears.

It's Disney's business what you wear so I wouldn't be surprised if DW wasn't asked to cover up next time you're there.

Anyway, aren't you hotter wearing next to nothing? As a self-proclaimed expert in southern heat and humidity, I can tell ya you're better off wearing a light-colored, loose t-shirt than a bikini or wife-beater. Sun shining directly on skin...yowsa!

I can't count the number of times she has worn a bikini top at WDW and has never been asked to cover up.

Having never been asked to cover up by anyone Disney I guess there is/was an assumption that it's ok. Using that premise, we assumed it was all what you are/were personally comfortable with.

I understand some people don't feel comfortable wearing clothing like that at a park. But if she does, and no one has ever told us otherwise, I'll keep on assuming it's ok. Everyone is different. The world would be a pretty boring place if we were all clones.

If/When a CM asks her to cover up, she obviously will, but it makes me wonder if maybe some of the people who have been asked to cover up are being asked due to a CM's personal feelings and not anything Disney has officially told them to do. I would be interested to hear from a CM what they have been told on the subject.

The thing that bugs me even more than the skimpy clothing is watching people let their kids walk around barefoot, especially in the restrooms

Let me add that she does put a cover up on when we go into restaurants and the such. We're not total cads

I have seen their dress code printed on some of their media at WDW and it does clearly state no bikini tops or bathing suits in the theme parks (although at EPCOT I have seen many children in bathing suits in the fountain). I think the worst place to see dress code violations is MK for some reason. I can't count the times that I have seen a woman with shorts cut up so high that if she sneezed you could see China and a nice skimpy bikini top that barely covers her up. The time that sticks out in my mind as the most disturbing actually happened with a child. We were walking through Adventureland and in the section where the tiki god statues spit water out I saw a little girl who looked to be about 6 standing there in nothing but her panties and soaking wet. I was looking around for a CM but couldn't find one available to ask them if they could say something to her parents. I can't believe the mindset of a parent who would let their child strip down in public like that. I may get flamed for saying this but I feel strongly about it. I am a forensic interviewer and receive referrals from law enforcement and child protection to interview children who have been molested or sexually abused. In my area last year we did over 300 interviews and those were only the reported incidents. There are predators out there everywhere and while I am in no way trying to make parents paranoid it is still important to be aware of who you are subjecting your child to when she is standing there in her panties.

I've noticed several children running around in their underwear as well (actually have one in the background of one of my pictures from a few years ago ) I think a lot of the time the parents don't realize that there are places where kids can get wet (such as the fountains in Epcot) and didn't bother to put a bathing suit on them....of course they should at the very least redress them before continuing throughout the park!

Granted, there are far more serious problems in the world than people who can't dress themselves, but it does make you wonder about the thought process of someone who thinks WDW is equivilent to a backyard barbeque when it comes to attire. Or lack of attire, as the case may be. Unfortunately, the world is full of people who are so full of themselves, they honestly believe everyone enjoys seeing them in all their "glory".

A couple of years ago we were standing on the train station waiting area at Splash Mountain. I couldn't believe it when two teenage girls, maybe around 14-15 years old, were standing there with the front of their shorts unzipped and hanging down so their underwear (or maybe it was a bathing suit) was easily seen. To top it off (so to speak) they were wearing very small bikini tops. It was a completely inappropriate appearance for the location, but they walked around like this was perfectly normal. A time and a place for everything, this wasn't it.
